Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
Happy Veterans Day to all of our veterans who served our country. We are grateful for your service!
Many classrooms and teachers will be receiving new materials, thanks to grants from the Lowell Education Foundation. LEF’s mission is to support innovative teaching and curriculum enhancement in Lowell Area Schools. Teachers have an opportunity to apply for funds for special projects. This year, the Education Foundation was able to award 17 grants amounting to almost $13,000. We received new instruments for music class, classroom easels and furniture for flexible seating, decodable books for reading intervention and super-sized math manipulatives for math intervention. We are so grateful for the support from the LEF Foundation.
If you haven't done so already, please be sure to sign up for our texting notifications through One Call Now. Many have heard there was a fire this week at the middle school resulting in evacuations and relocation of middle schoolers to Cherry Creek for pick up. This is why we practice our emergency procedures and our middle school staff did an outstanding job. It is through the One Call Now app that communication is delivered quickly and efficiently to families when needed. There is information below.
Are you and your family in need of assistance for the holidays? if so, please call us at 987-2650 to let us know. We are already receiving inquiries from local businesses and organizations looking to sponsor families for thanksgiving meals as well as Christmas help.
We could use donations of winter gear (used or new!) as we start to head into the colder months. Jackets, snow pants, hats, mittens and boots are all greatly appreciated.
Reminder! Next week we have 2 half days of school on November 18th and 19th. School dismisses at 11:50 each day. In the afternoon, teachers will be involved in professional development and they will be working on wrapping up the trimester in their classrooms.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters
