WSD Schools to Move to LEVEL 1
The WSD is committed to working as a team to welcome our students back in the safest manner possible, and will be reviewing and updating the Roadmap to Reopening Plan to ensure we have the appropriate precautions in place based on the latest guidance from health officials. We will expand the mask requirement to include Pre-K, kindergarten, first and second grade students beginning October 19, so all grades Pre-K through 12 students will be required to wear a face covering when physical distancing is not feasible.
Within our buildings, we will continue to implement the following protocols to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families:
• All students and staff will continue to complete a health screening before coming to school or work.
• Students and staff will be frequently reminded about the importance of proper handwashing; hand-sanitizer units have been placed in each classroom and throughout our buildings.
• Students in grades K-12 and all staff members will be required to wear face coverings when physical distancing is not feasible.
• Schools will be cleaned daily and deep cleaned when we are notified of a positive case of COVID-19.
Please refer to the dedicated page on the District website for updates related to COVID-19. It includes case and quarantine updates for students and staff as well as a link to the St. Charles County Department of Public Health dashboard that can be viewed by school district. It also includes a link to frequently asked questions, which are being updated regularly as we receive new questions.
Face Coverings & Masks
The District has received a number of questions about masks during recess. To clarify, masks are required if social distancing cannot occur, but building administrators and staff are encouraged to schedule opportunities for recess and outside activities that would allow for social distancing.
The same can be said for all areas: If you are less than six feet apart, masks are required for students and staff. If you are alone or more than six feet apart, mask breaks are permitted.
Additionally, we have received questions about gaiters specifically. Yes, there has been some guidance that neck gaiters are potentially not the best, but they ARE acceptable as a face covering.
At Home Screening Reminder
Please monitor your children at home, before coming to school. If your child has any one or more of the following symptoms, please keep your child at home.
-Fever 100.0 or above
-new onset cough
-difficulty breathing
-headache
-loss of taste or smell
-sore throat
-diarrhea
-nausea/vomiting
-fatigue
-runny nose/congestion
If your child is assessed, and you are called for pickup, we ask that you pick up your student as soon as possible, but no longer than one hour after you received notification that your child is being sent home. Your child may not return to school, until they are completely symptom free for 24 hours.
If your child or a child's immediate family member has tested positive for Covid-19, or if you have received direct contact from the health department regarding quarantine procedures for your student, please notify your school’s nurse of this information as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your continued support and effort to keep all students safe and healthy during this time.

WSD Provides Free Meals to Families
The WSD has announced that it will provide free meals for all students in the District beginning October 1, through December 31, 2020, or until available federal funding runs out. The meals are being provided regardless of eligibility as a result of the extension of waivers by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) related to the Seamless Summer Option program. This includes children ages 1-18 who reside in the Wentzville School District boundaries but are not enrolled in a WSD school.
Typically, the USDA provides reimbursements to school districts in order to provide free or reduced-price meals for students who qualify based on their family’s household income. The waivers related to income qualification that were implemented earlier this year are being extended as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, and in light of the exceptional circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
For parents whose children attend WSD schools in person: Beginning Thursday, October, 1, 2020, all students in the Wentzville School District will not be charged for breakfast or lunch. Please Note: This is only for a full breakfast or lunch, which must include a fruit or vegetable. A`la carte and premium meals (sold in middle and high only) will still be charged accordingly.
For parents whose children attend the WSD Virtual Academy: Meals can be picked up every Tuesday at one of the three high schools, Holt & Liberty from 12:00-12:30 and Timberland from 11:00-11:30. Please fill out THIS FORM, which opens on Wednesdays and closes on Fridays each week prior to meal distribution.
