MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Kerby Families,
All levels of Grosse Pointe Schools- including Barnes, nine elementary buildings, middle school groups and high school representatives, Community Campus, and staff have all come together to participate in The Great Kindness Challenge, January 28-February 1, 2019.
The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive, proactive bullying prevention initiative that reaches millions of students during the last week of January every year. GPPSS has added a community service project to engage in socially conscious leadership and promote caring, compassion and collaboration to support others in need.
Students and staff will be collecting items for Kindness Care Kits during the week of January 28-February 1 that will be donated to Crossroads, Motor City Mitten Mission and Eimer’s Foundation.
Other activities related to kindness to help promote a safe and caring school environment may also take place during the week and beyond. GPPSS is happy to be a part of The Great Kindness Challenge which was created by the non-profit Kids for Peace.
Thank you for your support!!!

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE
- We are in need of additional lunchroom help. If you are available please call the office or email Lisa Sicklesteel at sicklel@gpschools..org
- Label all outer wear!!! This really does help when we have 360 students. Items get left behind regularly.
- With cold and flu season upon us please keep in mind that when your child is running a fever and/or vomiting, they must remain home for 24 hours. They may return to school when they have been fever free and/or vomit free for 24 hours without medicine. Thank you for your cooperation with keeping all students healthy. Please remember to call the attendance line (313) 432-4201 if your child will be out. Leave your child's full name and reason for absence. Thank you.

PEACHJAR DIGITAL FLYERS
DIGITAL FLYER DELIVERY STARTS JANUARY 18
Our school is getting ready to launch a new digital flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved digital flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on the school’s website.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
No action is required on your part. You will receive a welcome email from our service provider (Peachjar) that includes a username and password. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school digital flyers.
To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add “school@peachjar.com” to your email contacts. When you receive your first digital flyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
