Lake Travis a great place to go to if you are looking for a large variety of bass, catfish, sunfish, crappie, etc. It is a fun, popular place to relax and fish. The lake has a shoreline of 270 miles, 63.75 miles long and 4.5 miles wide.

Fish Species
Lake Travis is known for its Largemouth Bass, but there are so many other species throughout the lake that you can find! Here are some of our most popular fish, their daily bag limit, minimum length, records, and best way to fish for them.
Alligator Gar
The bag limit for an alligator gar is 1, there is no minimum length. The largest gar caught was 279 pounds on January 1, 1951 by Bill Valverde with shrimp. There is no minimum length.
Smallmouth Bass
The bag limit for any bass or catfish COMBINED is 5. The largest smallmouth caught was 23.00(length, 7.93(weight) on March 13, 1998 by Timothy Teague with crayfish. There is no minimum length.
Black Bullhead
Once again, the bag limit for bass and catfish combined is 5. The largest caught was 5.15(length), 20.25(weight) on March 18, 2007 by Larry Feland with jumbo shrimp. The minimum length is 10.
Largemouth Bass
Of course there are plenty of Largemouth bass in Lake Travis! In 2015, 424,979 fingerling-size largemouth were stocked. The bag limit for any bass and catfish combined is 5. The minimum length is 14.
Longer Sunfish
The Longear Sunfish is the prettiest fish we have in the lake. The daily bag limit is 25 and there is no minimum length.
Green Sunfish
Although this sunfish is a beautiful fish, it's not a huge catch. There is no bag limit or minimum length.
Fishing License
It doesn't take much to get your fishing license. All you have to do is be above 17 years of age, purchase the license over the Internet or Austin Headquarters, and pay an administrative fee of $5. The cost to fish for one day on Lake Travis is $10.
