In The Know
Halloween - Please share with students. Students are encouraged to express themselves by wearing Halloween costumes. Costumes must follow the 4J district and CHS dress codes as outlined in the Student Handbook. Costumes must not distract from learning. No masks may be worn. No weapons of any kind may be brought to school, including any fake, toy, or prop weapons. Finally, be creative and have fun!
Staff Dress Up - Friendly reminder. We have a SUPER holiday this coming Wednesday.
That's right, this week is Halloween and I just wanted to remind everyone that our staff costume theme this year is Superheroes/villains!!!! You could go either the DC or Marvel route, or you could become your own superhero!! There is still time to get crafty for those of you that are more DIY, or there are lots of DC/Marvel stuff on sale at places like Hot Topic and Spirit the Halloween store. Even places like JC Penny, Target, or Walmart have t-shirts with superhero logos on them - many ways to join in on the fun! It's not too late to find a way to get involved. Several students who are excited to see this years theme - so keep it a secret if you can! Its a fun surprise :)

Vocal Showcase - Chris Mudd and Jacob Steinberger - the vocal showcase was awesome this week I am always so proud of the work that you do and the pure enjoyment that students have in your classes. You provide an exemplar for staff when it comes to relationships, feedback, rigor and engagement. Not to mention pure enjoyment! Congrats for putting on a great show.
Churchill Student Athletes - we have received time and time again nominations from the OSAA where they congratulate us on level of sportsmanship nomination. This is a recognition program that gives officials the opportunity to highlight the positive sportsmanship that they see on the field or court. In recent contests, our sports teams exhibited the great qualities that the OSAA looks for in teams, programs, and communities across the state, and our game officials have noticed! I would like to thank the many wonderful coaches, student athletes, and building athletic director. I am also indebted to our wonderful and flexible staff for allowing students to leave early and help provide students these wonderful opportunities. Thank you all. You make Churchill proud.
Lancer Ladies Soccer - I am so impressed with the amazing and resilient run by the CHS Lady Soccer Team. What an amazing group of young athletes. Your collective sense of 'team' is what is most memorable. You played like champions all season. I am proud of you.
Ian Ogden - Ian has a new role this year as our District AVID Coordinator. This is an immense job. He gets into classrooms art each school, collaborates with administrators and teachers at each school and develops meaningful meetings and outcomes across the district in support of AVID. Additionally, he focuses his energy working on building meaningful professional development for our own staff. I am excited for his work and the positive impact he is having on our school.
AJ Robinson - Congratulations on a well deserved win on Friday night. AJ has led our football team to its second consecutive district championship title. I wanted to thank you for being an authentic leader. It is difficult to navigate challenges when they arise, and you have navigated a season of challenges. You showed our football players what it means to work hard and stay focused on the end goal. You have taught them how to treat others, to be welcoming and open-hearted. But above all you have shown this group of boys what it means to have integrity. This is lesson hard to come by in some, but a gift to every athlete you have had the honor of coaching. Thank you for leading with your heart and for holding high expectations.
