A Message from the Director
TVA Families,
Trojan Virtual Academy is pleased to be continued to be recognized by the Indiana Department of Education as a Family Friendly School. A virtual school has unique challenge to maintain family and student connections. We appreciate the efforts that you take to support your child at home every day. Our school could not exist without our unique partnership.
As a reminder the EdOptions system in Edmentum that we use does not take breaks into account with pacing. Students are thus reminded that they need to work ahead to stay on pace as we approach Spring Break. We do pause pacing for one week following break allowing students to get on track. This is an important like skill for students to budget their time to meet deadlines and we know they are capable of doing it with support from home.
Thank you for your continued support and have a great week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin Zeck & the TVA Staff
Hope you remembered to move your clocks forward an hour this morning.
Each week we will showcase TVA Students of the Week. Students are chosen based on their online performance with staying on pace and making good academic progress. We are excited to celebrate our student successes and we hope this helps you also connect in some ways as well.
Ethan Daily - TVA Student of the Week
Ethan is an eighth grade student and has been with us since we opened. He told us that the reason he chose TVA is because,” I get better grades online than I do in person.” His favorite subject is Science. He really likes to learn about planets and the solar system. When he is not doing schoolwork he likes to play baseball and ride his bike. After high school he would like to join the Navy and become a pilot. One thing people may not know about him is that he knows a lot about planes. Ethan is part of the class of 2027.
Allison Lopez - TVA Student of the Week
Allison is a seventh grader here at TVA and was with us last year and returned to us again at semester. She told us that she chose virtual learning because,”it is less stressful and more flexible. It allows me to work at my own pace.” Her favorite subject is Science. Allison enjoys learning about fossils, the planets, and space. After high school she plans to go to college to become a speech pathologist. When she is not studying she loves to draw and read. She also plays the piano and plays clarinet for the Chesterton Middle School band. Something that people may be surprised to learn is that she likes archery and hopes to be in an archery league next year. Allison is part of the class of 2028.

The goal of the Duneland School Corporation district school newsletters is to inform students, parents and the school community about school-related information.
This year, the Duneland Schools will share information that pertains to opportunities our students may be interested in outside of school on a special page on our website. These available opportunities are offered by not-for-profit partnerships and organizations within our school district boundaries and local communities. Click the link below to learn more.
Tech Alert
Several of our high school students have expressed concerns with alerts or being unable to log in to their school issued device. A new security feature was rolled out recently that depending on your device usage may cause some problems. Here is the solution:
- Make sure you're signed out of everything.
- When you sign back in make sure you are only using your Duneland logins. New security has been installed so that students are no longer allowed to use any personal logins.
- Open Microsoft Edge (that's it, you don't have to log in or anything).
- Leave your device on so that it can sync.
