A Message from the Principal
Dear Jaguar Families,
As we continue in the month of November I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the students, families, and staff who belong to our Jaguar family. I am not only thankful but honored to be able to serve such a wonderful community.
A few reminders and announcements:
- Remind101-Please sign-up for Remind101. It allows us to text you with real-time information if/when necessary.
- Team Day-Staff is planning a modified team day for our students on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. We are excited to bring back this event to help build our school spirit.
- Community Partners-We are happy to continue our third year of partnership with Hacienda Del Rey, a local Senior Living facility. Please see the flyer below for information regarding their November fundraiser. If you know of a church and/or business in the community that would like to partner with our school, please reach out to Mrs. Tassin @ tassin@lesd.k12.az.us with their information. Community outreach is very important not only for our staff but for our students as well.
- Parentvue-There is an important message about the Parentvue app. below. Teachers will also send out this information in a blast to families on Monday, November 8, 2021.
Thank you and have a great month!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Tassin and the Wigwam Creek Staff

Attendance Concerns
My goal is to work in partnership with our families. I am seeking your assistance with tardies. We are seeing a dramatic increase in our morning tardies over the last few weeks. In the first week of November, the office averaged 50+ unexcused tardies each morning, with some days reaching upwards of 80 unexcused tardies.
Excused Tardy- An excused tardy refers to any tardy that is excused by a parent/guardian. An excused tardy requires that a parent/guardian is present with their child when signing into school later than the start time of 8:50 am. Per state attendance protocols we cannot excuse a tardy unless the parent is physically present. A note and/or phone call cannot be accepted to excuse your child's late arrival.
Unexcused Tardy-An unexcused tardy refers to any student who arrives at school after 8:50am without a parent/guardian to sign them into school.
Tardies are NOT being assigned to our late bus arrivals.
In order to help deter unexcused tardies, we will be following the handbook's guidelines on excessive tardies. Please refer to the policy below. In an effort to communicate these concerns, advisors and office staff will begin calling parents/guardians of students who have more than 2 tardies in one week. This will count as a conference per our district policy. Any additional tardies will result in disciplinary measures.
I appreciate your assistance with this rising concern.
It is very helpful when parents/guardians call our attendance clerk for absences. Please be sure to reach out to Ms. Smith when your child is going to be absent.
The attendance line is 623-547-1103.
Ms. Smith's email address is smithk@lesd.k12.az.us
We appreciate your support with this.
Communication is Essential
We encourage all parents/guardians to keep the lines of communication open. If you have a question do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and/or advisor for support.
