Oil Spill in Huntley
This week in Science, we had an oil spill in the classroom. We learned that if we put cotton balls and paper mixed together, it will soak up some of the oil. This is called a sorbent. We were trying to discover that cleaning up an oil spill isn't as easy as it looks. We learned that in 2011 there was an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that caused many problems. It took them several months to clean it up. We think the whole thing was a huge disaster.
Decimals and Place Value
This week in math was super! We worked on decimals and place value. We learned that if the number is two spaces away from the decimal you say hundreths place but if it is one space away from the decimal you say tenths. We also learned what fraction goes with what decimal. For example, one half is equal to five tenths. we also learned how to add decimals. At first we thought it was going to be extremely hard but it turned out to be extremely easy. It is just like regular addition except you just line up the decimals. This week in math ( best part of the day!) was spectacular!
Google Classrooms in Stations
We use Google Classrooms to work on assignments and to turn in late assignments. Goggle Classrooms can also show teachers who didn't turn in there work. It also can be used to add comments to the teachers instructions. It tells you what assignments are due. It also can give you suggestions on websites for due assignments.
