Lamkin Lines
October 4, 2023
From The Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
October is here and I am sure you agree that cooler temperatures are welcome! I know that students and staff are looking forward to the fall air at recess. October is a month full of fun events and as always, we appreciate your involvement and support at Lamkin. Together, we can make a positive impact in the lives of all our students.
Did you know?
- Parent support in school can have a significant positive impact on a child's academic success. When parents are involved in their child's education, they can help to reinforce learning at home and provide additional support for the child's needs. Additionally, parent involvement can help to create a sense of community within the school and foster better relationships between families and teachers.
- Parents can support their student by reaching out to the teacher, volunteering at school events, and joining the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). By doing so, you can stay informed about your child's education and provide valuable feedback to the school. Additionally, parents can support schools by donating supplies, support fundraising, or their time to help with school projects and initiatives.
- Our campus goal is to have 95% of our students at school each day. If your child is well, please make sure they are at school each day by 8:15. Students miss out when they are absent.
Good school attendance is essential for academic success. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher grades and build positive relationships with teachers and peers. Additionally, consistent attendance instills good habits that can benefit students throughout their lives.
PBIS Rewards- Parent Access
We are excited to share details on how you will be able to log in and see the SPOTS that your student is earning through PBIS Rewards. Look for the student specific flyer that will go home later this week. There is a YouTube tutorial available for preview to learn about the parent portal: search “PBIS Rewards-Parent Education Video” or visit: https://youtu.be/wZLyt6uPVy8?si=Vt1VWX0NgxZqCN9i Also, please visit this link to learn more about PBIS Rewards and why we use it at Lamkin. https://www.pbisrewards.com/about/parent-support-video/
Adventure Dash
Lamkin’s fundraiser will kick off very soon and additional details will be sent. The success of the fundraiser is crucial to support the initiatives and events that we wish to provide.
The fundraising timeline is as follows:
- October 25th- Students will participate in a rally to learn all about Adventure Dash!
- October 25-November 3- Family and friends can make donations!
- November 3rd- THE BIG EVENT- Students will participate in the Adventure Dash here at Lamkin.
October 31st
- We do not celebrate Halloween at Lamkin. This day is a day that teachers can give their students treats during class; however, costumes and trick-or-treating activities are not permitted. Due to a high number of students having food allergies, we ask that you do not send food snacks/treats to school.
In October, students will learn ways to be reliable and how to be self-directed- think, choose, and act! We are LAMKINd!

Student ID Badges
Each Lamkin student has received two photo ID badges at no cost. The badges and the unique student number will be used to account for students utilizing transportation (bus) services, checking out library books, purchasing food from the cafeteria, providing a means for easy identification of students in common areas of the school and for other uses as determined by campus administrators. One of the badges will be attached to the student's backpack and is required to be utilized for transportation services (bus). The second ID will remain at the campus. Students must have the ID badge in their possession each day and follow campus procedures related to wearing the ID badge. If a student loses the ID, a replacement must be promptly purchased from the school office or on-line in your student's School Cash account.
Replacement costs are as follows:
Plastic ID - $3.00
Lanyard - $1:00
Plastic Sleeve - $1.00
Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will be issued red plastic sleeves and must have the sleeve and badge to ride the school bus home. If the student is not identified with the red plastic sleeve and badge, they will not be allowed to ride the bus home. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are to be met at the school bus at the bus stop to be released. If no one is available to meet the Pre-K or kindergarten student at the bus, the student will be returned to the Lamkin.

Bring a Water Bottle
Make sure your child brings a water bottle with their name on it every day. We have refill stations on campus so they always have access to water. It's important that they stay hydrated and having their own water bottle will help.
Science Wish List
Please help stock our Science supplies to get our year up and running! You can send it to school with your student and label it SCIENCE! Thank you for generosity!
Renew Your Free or Reduced Meal Status
If you haven't already done so, please go on-line and renew your child's free or reduced meal status. This has to be done every year! Right now you are in a temporary grace period, so if you were receiving free/reduced meals last year, your child/children are in that grace period now.
This year, grace period ends on October 10th. This means all students who qualified for Free/Reduced meals last year AND have not completed an application this year, will revert to PAID meals.
You can use the QR code below, or go to http://www.schoolcafe.com to renew your status or call 281-897-4550 if you have any questions or need assistance.

- Reservations will be required and will be taken beginning the Monday of each week. Call 281-897-4775 to make the reservation.
