Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don't complete all of my hours?
Failure to complete requirements will result in the employee being docked two days of pay on the December 2020 paycheck. Unfortunately, partial credit will not be counted for FLEX.
Where can I see what courses are being offered in my subject area or field?
Summer Course offerings can be found here. Once you decide what courses you wish to take you will need to register in Eduphoria. While most courses will be self-paced and completed during a window of time, they will all begin and end with a face-to-face session. Be sure and check Eduphoria descriptions for information on how to join those face-to-face sessions in Zoom or Google Hangout.
Is it possible to count office work for my flex?
No, since office work is not professional learning it is not eligible for flex.
If I am being paid to attend a session can it count towards Flex?
No, if you are being paid for your participation you may not count it for Flex.
If I am taking a course at a university can it count for my Flex?
Yes! A three-hour summer course will meet your flex requirement. You will need to provide proof of enrollment via transcript in Eduphoria so that Flex can be documented.
Can I attend sessions online or face-to-face outside of LISD?
With supervisor approval you may attend these sessions. In order to qualify you must submit a certificate of completion in Eduphoria. This certificate must have the date of the event and the number of hours earned to receive approval.
May I count courses that have been completed during COVID?
No, all courses must be completed outside of your school contract to count towards flex. That means they must begin after May 22 and before August 10.
How do I upload certificates in Eduphoria?
I am a new employee. How do I meet my Flex requirements?
New teachers will meet their Flex Requirements through participation in the New Teacher Induction Program on August 5-7. Paraprofessionals will need to complete 12 hours of online courses. They can use the course offering button below to select courses and register through Eduphoria.
Do Reading Academies count towards Flex even though they are not completed prior to August 10th?
Yes, those of you who are required to do Reading Academies will be able to count that towards Flex.
