Welcome to our new Ambassadors
We are thrilled to bring back our student Ambassador program. These 3 - 5th grade volunteers are supporting our student population and helping other students start their day in a positive way. They are dressed in yellow in hopes to be noticed for those who need assistance and as a caution to adults to be sure and be safe. They are in front of the school greeting students as they arrive, helping students get out of their cars safely, and helping direct foot traffic on the sidewalk. They are able to support a bit speedier exit from cars in the unloading area. It is not necessary to pull all the way forward to allow your student out of the vehicle, please follow the lead of the Ambassadors. We appreciate your support in all interactions with our young volunteers.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
What is the School Site Council?
The School Site Council is made up of the principal, three teachers, five parents and one classified staff employee. Each member has an equal voice to provide input and support for school improvement programs and school budget. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month. Members of the School Site Council are elected by their peers to serve a two-year term.
What school site council does?
The Council’s purpose is to propose school wide goals, i.e., “85% of the 2nd-5th graders will score at the Proficient Level or above in Math, as measured by the California Standards Test.” The goals must be directly related to improving student achievement. The council also recommends the allocation of funds, in compliance with federal and state laws, to meet those goals. The goals, review of data, and budget are components of the annual Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
We are seeking nominations for two parents or community members on the site council for the 2021 - 2022 and 2022 - 2023 school years. Returning parents and community members are Cindy Lewis, Bob Leon, and Morgan Burgwald. If you would like to nominate someone, please ask them first, or nominate yourself.
Please submit this form by September 14.
Meetings are virtual and held the first Thursday of every month from 7 a.m. to 7:50 a.m.
