Welcome to Our House "Where Character Matters"
Dear Botsford Families,
This Friday out Botsford Bobcats met in their final den for the year. We honored each 5th grade student with a colored band as a reminder of how "Pawsome" they are.
The focus of our lesson was on SELF REGULATION. Students watched a Sesame Street video staring Cookie Monster. Cookie Monster shared how he used self control to WAIT before eating a cookie. He reminded us to stand up straight, take deep breaths and walk away and THINK before we ACT. We concluded our den lesson with a scenario sorting activity. Students collaborated to select the best choice when faced with a problem (Do I kick a friend if he won't let me join the game or do I try to talk it out with my friend?).
Our den lessons and follow up gym celebrations have been a huge success this year. Our Bobcats are always asking "Is den this Friday?". This is thanks to our committed staff who recognize that building relationships with students must be our first priority. The den lessons and messages we share create a common language in our building. With that being said we like to share the focus of the lesson with our families so that message bridges into the home. Please watch the video below with your child and talk with him or her about Self Regulation.

A Final Good-Bye from Mrs. Gregg
Bon Voyage, Adios, Adieu, Aloha, Arrivederci, auf Wiedersehen
I want to say "Thank You" to all the wonderful staff and students I have had the pleasure to work with over the last 20 years. 'Thank You" for allowing me into your hearts and lives. I have enjoyed every minute, every hour, and every day as the secretary at Botsford Elementary. Please know that each and every one of you has impacted my life and touched me more than you could ever be aware of. I thank every student for every birthday treat and every gift you have given me, most precious to me are my dandelion flowers and homemade cards. I have appreciated your generosity and love. I have been touched by the students who return to hear a "birthday song" and get a ribbon. I will miss you more than words can express.
While I am sad I am also excited to begin this new chapter in my life.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Patricia Gregg, Retired (June 19, 2018)
