MARCH HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We have a lot to look forward to this month. We will have our Literacy night, Parent Teacher Conferences and at some point, I will dress up as a hamburger!
- I'm super excited for our upcoming Literacy Night! Our staff has worked hard on organizing a wonderful and fun-filled event!
- We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks for our Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. This will be a great time to discuss growth and goals to finish the school year strong!
- Thank you so much for your support during our 1st ever chocolate bar fundraiser! We met our goal and students are excited to see me dressed up as a hamburger!!!

Attendance Letters
All schools have started sending out attendance letters to all students with 3, 6 or 9 absences within a semester. With COVID, we paused this process, but now we have re-started. These letters are not unique to Shadow Butte; every school in our district uses them and Infinite Campus automatically generates these letters for us each day based on absences. If you have Doctor/Dentist notes please bring them in to the office and this will be considered an Exempt Excuse.
CLASSIFICATION OF ABSENCES:
Excused absences occur when a student is absent from school with the parent/guardian’s knowledge and consent.
Excused absences may include, but are not limited to: student illness, medical or dental appointments, illness of a family member, family conveniences, or pre arranged absences.
Excused absences will be counted when computing the percentage of attendance (90%) and consequent eligibility for promotion or credit is being considered.
Exempt excused absences occur when a student is absent from school to attend an appointment with professional personnel and the appointment is confirmed with documentation from the professional.
Professional appointments include medical doctors, dentists, counselors, attorneys.
Exempt excused absences will not be counted when the percentage of attendance (90%) and consequent eligibility for promotion or credit is being considered.
STUDENT DROP OFF/ PICK UP
Just a reminder, the front of the school is for dropping off and picking up students only. If you need to come into our school, please use the parking spots. Thanks for helping us keep our students safe!
UPDATE!!!!!
We have ordered new signs for our drop off & pick up area up front...stay tuned for pictures and further instructions when the signs arrive!!!

AUTOMATED CALLS REGARDING STUDENT ABSENCES
Beginning Monday January 24, an automated phone call and email will be sent to parents or guardians if their child is absent for the day. The calls will go out between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. This automated call will only be sent to parents and guardians if you have not reported your child's absence to the school before 10:00 am.
