2021-2022 School Year - August 10, 2021

Let's Go!

Day 1 is upon us and it's time to get to work. Students, I hope all of you get off to a great and fresh start. Our seniors who have been decorating their parking spaces have done an amazing job. I have absolutely loved looking at those. 9th-grade students, you were awesome last week as you came in and picked up your schedules and we had zero mask issues.

All students, please understand we would love for masks to go away, but for the time being, masks are mandatory and you will be resilient and just like last year do a great job with this mandate. Cleaning expectations will also remain the same for the beginning of the school year.

If you are not being dropped off by a school bus tomorrow, come in Door 4 and go to the cafeteria. All students before the 7:55 a.m. bell must be in the cafeteria. 1st period starts at 8:05 a.m. *Please note the staff will be very flexible with students on our first 3 days of school getting to the right class.

SOME FANTASTIC NEWS TO SHARE FROM THE IHSAA

Several years ago the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) started a sportsmanship program. We have 410 high schools eligible to receive the sportsmanship distinction. This award is focused on good sportsmanship, citizenship, and character within our staff, students, and community members.

Only 11 schools in the state received this honor. Madison High School was one of those 11 who qualified for this award. This honor extends to our whole community and it's a huge statement about our students, athletic director, assistant athletic director, coaching staff, and community!

Congratulations to our Athletic Director, Mr. Joe Bronkella, our coaching staff, parents, and the Madison community for this distinction. Way to represent!

Schedule Pick Up

Hard copy schedules will be available in the cafeteria tomorrow morning from 7:30 a.m. until 7:55 a.m. A reminder that schedule changes were done in May for 10th through 12th-grade students and that schedules are petty set. If there is a gap in your schedule, please email your counselor. Schedules will not be changed at this point unless there is a dire circumstance.

9th/10th-grade counselor is Mrs. Carrie Dickerson @ cdickerson@madison.k12.in.us

11th grade is Mrs. Shareen Kring @ skring@madison.k12.in.us

12th grade is Mrs. Janelle Smith @ jsmith@madison.k12.in.us

Mask Update and Quarantine

As of right now, masks are mandatory. When it comes to quarantine, If you are vaccinated and are a close contact you will not have to miss school. If you are unvaccinated, we will follow the same protocol as last school year. If you are considered a close contact and vaccinated you will have to show your vaccination card as proof to our nurse so that you do not have to be out of school for 10 days.

Masks, by federal law, must be worn on all busses all the time. This includes athletics and extra-curricular activities.

If you are in quarantine and do not have symptoms, the expectation will be for you to do whatever your teacher has designed for you. Every teacher will have a process for you to follow while quarantined. The key will be to have great communication with your teachers. If you are quarantined and have symptoms and cannot participate on a daily basis, please make sure you or your parents/guardians are communicating with your teachers.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
