ELA (English Language Arts), Math and Science PSSA’s will be administered next month.
Students in grades 3 through 6 will participate in one or more of these state assessments.
GRADES 3-6 ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS- APRIL 21, 22, & 23
GRADES 3-6 MATH- APRIL 29 & 30
GRADE 4 SCIENCE- MAY 4 & 5
As attendance is state mandated for these assessments, family trips will not be approved during these testing windows. Please plan accordingly.
Many parents ask what they can do to help their child prepare for this test.
This is not an assessment that you can study for. Students have been provided with the knowledge and skills to take these assessments throughout their schooling. This preparation started in kindergarten and is built upon each year.
However, Parents CAN help with the following...
*Give your child a PEP talk each day
*Eat a healthy and nutritious breakfast
*Arrive to school on time (late students will not be allowed to enter the classroom once the test has started)
* Allow students to get plenty of rest the night before each assessment
Please refer to the attached PSSA letter for more details. In addition to the parent letter, please review the attached Cell Phone Letter and Frequently Answered Question Document.
Cell phones and other electronic devices MUST be collected prior to testing and returned after testing each day. To avoid this process, students are encouraged to keep cell phones and other electronic devices home during the testing window.
