Message from the President

I hope everyone enjoyed the snowcation!! In last week's email I suggested families email photos of their children having fun in the snow. STM's Twitter Administrator, Emily Stocker, would actually appreciate a few as well so that she can add them to our "STM twitter presence." Please forward them to me at or

We will kick off Catholic Schools Week with 9:30 a.m. mass this Sunday, January 31st. Please bring your families (with kids dressed in school uniforms) and they will earn a dress down pass for Tuesday the 2nd (a.k.a. Student Appreciation Day). On Tuesday evening, join the rest of our STM Community at California Pizza Kitchen/Pentagon Center for a fundraiser. 20% of daily sales will be donated to STM and your children will receive ANOTHER dress down pass good for February 8th.

STM Open Houses - January 31 & February 3 - PLEASE Spread the Word!

Please join us on Sunday, January 31, for 9:30 AM Mass at the Cathedral followed by an all-school Open House from 10:45 AM to 1:30 PM to kick off Catholic Schools Week. Our final Open House of this admissions season is scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2016, from 9AM to 11AM. Both Open Houses are open to all prospective students.

We've found that personal invitations and word-of-mouth advertising work best, so please help get the word out to prospective families. More information about the upcoming Open Houses is available on our website.

We are also looking for 5-10 parent volunteers to welcome prospective families and assist our student ambassadors with tours on each Open House day. If you can't volunteer in person, you can still assist us by sending in some small water bottles, baked goods, or other light refreshments. Contributions of time and/or resources may be counted towards the fulfillment of your PTO volunteer hour requirement. Please contact Mrs. Ludvigson at to volunteer.

Help STM Women's Council Celebrate Christmas in February

The Women's Council will collect dignity items throughout the month of January for those in need. Please bring travel size, unopened items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, tooth brushes, powder, lotion, tooth paste or another appropriate things you think will be of use. The Dollar stores have gloves and hats and socks in all sizes as well. We will distribute the boxes to the needy in February. We sincerely thank you for all your help. Volunteer Hours

The STM-PTO requests each family to volunteer 20 hours per school year in a wide variety of activities. We know some families are not able to do so and we offer an alternate of paying $300 for the school year instead. Each family is responsible for submitting their hours in the electronic Volunteer Service Hour Log Book via the STM webpage, or by clicking the button below.

In order to be a volunteer within the school (pizza lunch, classroom helper, room parent) or for roles such as scout leader, sports coach, field trip chaperone, etc., you must be VIRTUS Trained. All hopeful volunteers must attend a "Protecting God's Children" session, and then fill out the appropriate background check/paperwork - available via the STM School office. Once the office has record of your session attendance, and the paperwork has been received, you are granted the ability to volunteer in the school. Family-based events (such as the International Festival, Breakfast with Santa and Hot Dog Bash) do not require Virtus Trained volunteers, as the children's parents are onsite. Questions?
