Message from Dr. Burns!
Dear Families and Students,
This week, April 6 - April 8 is a shortened school week because Governor Riamondo has determined that Thursday, April 9 will be a school Pause Day, and Friday is a regularly scheduled school holiday. In order to even out the school schedule this week, we will be switching the usual Wednesday list of classes to the Friday classes.
The last day of Quarter 3 is on Thursday, April 16 and Report Cards will be available to families and students via Aspen on Friday, April 24. Families and students should review Aspen in addition to their Google Classrooms to check to make sure assignments are submitted. If you are unsure or have any questions, please contact your teacher(s).
We are keeping close tabs on student attendance. Please contact the Attendance Office if your child is too ill to "come to school". 401.245.2010, ext 1. We will be calling homes of all students who are unaccounted for, and your call will be greatly appreciated. Parents, if you are having concerns about how things are going that is not directly related to classwork, please call one of the KMS administrators. Dr. Burns: 401.580.5502.
The weather is beginning to warm up, and on those days without April showers I'm sure students will be anxious to get outside. I know I will be! Please remember the strict rules about maintaining social distancing.
We love you all!
Be safe, be well,
Rosemary (Dr. Burns)

Changes to April Calendar
BWRSD will be adopting a modified school calendar following the request of Governor Raimondo to have consistency throughout the state. Friday, April 3, 2020, and Friday, April 17, 2020, will be strategic pause days for staff. There will be no distance learning instruction on those days. Staff will use those days to work with colleagues. Additionally, Thursday, April 9, 2020, and Friday, April 10, 2020,BWRSD will be “closed” to provide all members of the BWRSD community a break for an extended weekend. These days are considered part of the 180 day school calendar and do not need to be made up.

I invited all 89 of my students to film themselves reading a children's book for toddlers and young children stuck at home. We post one KMS Star reader on Social Media sharing a favorite children's book each day. Here are my first two Tailblazers who kicked off Reading Month by reading to Paislee, Mrs. Greenway's toddler!

BWRSD Online Tech Support for Families
Please continue to email BWRSDTech@BWRSD.org for support during this time of Distance Learning. The email account is accessible 24 hours per day, and you can expect a response within 1 school day. The most common issue for not being able to access apps such as STEMscopes is that they may not be going in through CLEVER or that families need to have students login to the Chrome browser with their BWRSD credentials. Here are directions.
