Spring Carnival Help
The Boone Spring Carnival is upon us and will be here before you know it. We are so excited to host our favorite, fun-filled family event on April 8th from 4pm to 8pm. If you are interested in helping out or volunteering, please contact our Spring Carnival Chair, Brenda Ledesma at ledesmabrenda@yahoo.com, or Volunteer Coordinator, Sherina Warstler at sherinawarstler@gmail.com. We would love all the help you are willing to give. We will have plenty of volunteer opportunities the day of the carnival as well. (As we near the carnival date, sign-ups will begin to go out).
If you are a business owner, or work for a corporation that loves to give, please let us know about that too, we would love donations for our silent auction. We are also actively seeking corporations to sponsor* a ride, or rides to our event. Please contact the above referenced persons if interested. *Sponsor refers to the cost of the ride or entertainment item for the length of the carnival. Costs can be denoted directly from Brenda Ledesma, our Spring Carnival Chair.
If you own a business, and are interested in hosting a booth or supporting our endeavors in another way, perhaps with offsetting other costs, we would love to have that support as well. We would love for this carnival to be the most spectacular one yet.
We would like to thank the following sponsors who have already generously contributed to our Spring Carnival Silent Auction:

Nurse Notes
Caffeine is a stimulant that may cause jitteriness, nervousness, upset stomach, headaches, difficulty in focusing, difficulty in sleeping, increased heart rate and increased blood pressure. Some people are more sensitive to caffeine than others.
Children who drink one or more 12-ounce soda daily are 60% more likely to become obese. Drinking soda also fills up children and makes them not want to eat enough foods that contain vitamins and minerals necessary for proper growth. Caffeine can also interfere with calcium absorption which is needed for bone growth.
Dental cavities are no one’s favorite thing, but can become common with drinking too many sweet drinks. One 12-ounce regular soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar.
Caffeine is also a diuretic which could lead to dehydration, especially during the warm or hot weather. Given the choice, many children will choose a soda over plain water. Soda is a common source for caffeine, but it can also be found in tea, chocolate and even some medicines. Read those labels.
In place of soda, offer, water, milk or flavored, unsweetened de-caffeinated beverages. Have your child bring a water bottle to school and encourage them to refill it as needed. So many children do not drink enough water during the day.
