LWE CAMPUS CLOSED TO VISITORS TUESDAY, MARCH 28-THURSDAY, MARCH 30
The campus will be closed next week to all visitors Tuesday, March 28-Thursday, March 30 for STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) testing. On Tuesday, March 28 fourth graders will take STAAR Writing and fifth graders will take STAAR Math. On Wednesday, March 29 all fifth graders will take STAAR Reading.
Please help promote a successful testing situation for your child by doing the following:
- Avoid scheduling any appointments on these days.
- Please see that your child gets plenty of sleep in the nights prior to test.
- Provide your child with a well-balanced, healthy breakfast.
- Have your child dress comfortably. Uncomfortable clothing can be a distraction.
- Send a sweatshirt or jacket in case your child gets cold during testing.
- Students should arrive at school before or by the 7:40 tardy bell.
- Send your child with a healthy snack and water bottle.
- Make sure your child has all necessities: glasses, medication, etc. We will be unable to interrupt testing for deliveries.
- Have your child leave electronic devices at home: cell phones, iPads, Smart watches, etc. Should these items come to school, they will be collected and returned at the end of the school day.
- Encourage your child to do his/her best.
Thank you in advance for your support as our students show what they know on testing days!

All LTISD students must ride the bus to and from the field trips. Parents may go in cars, but LTISD students must ride the bus both ways. Questions regarding the transportation of students who require special equipment for transportation, should be directed to the Director of Special Education. Parents can pick up their students after the field trip at the school.

Magical Tea Party
Be our guest at a magical tea party hosted by LTHS Choir! This event is generously sponsored by Lexus of Lakeway. Our guests will enjoy a brief show in the annex recital hall and then will be served a fabulous tea party buffet in the atrium with an opportunity to meet all the princesses and take photos. The tea party buffet is come and go, so the end time of the event is flexible. All guests will have an opportunity to meet and take photos with the princesses. There are 2 types of tickets, general admission, and a VIP ticket, which will include a VIP seating area in the theatre and a separate meet and greet time with the princesses and other VIP guests. Everyone (children and adults) must have a ticket for entry. Fun for all ages and everyone! Contact LTHSchoirtx@gmail.com with any questions. This is not a drop-off event.
LTISD BEST CLUB
During an instructional year, community members who complete 100 hours of volunteer service in Lake Travis ISD qualify for membership in the LTISD Best Club. Benefits include:
- Free admission for two to any Lake Travis ISD sponsored school event. This benefit is good for one year from the date the membership card is issued. This does not include away and playoff events.
- Best Club members are eligible to win one free summer camp during the name drawing, which occurs at the end of the instructional year.

THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF BATTERY DISPOSAL
Most batteries, including rechargeable batteries, contain mercury, cadmium, zinc, copper, lead, lithium, or potassium. These are all hazardous to the environment and to human health. When the batteries that we use are thrown into the trash, the batteries end up in landfills. As the battery casing corrodes, chemicals leach into the soil and make their way into the water supply and eventually reach the ocean. These are all hazardous to the environment and to human health. They also release toxins into the air when they are burnt in waste combustors. Cadmium is easily absorbed by plant roots and are then stored in vegetables, fruits, and grass. Impure water and plants are consumed by humans and animals, causing abdominal pain, liver and kidney damage, headaches, asthma, nervousness, decreased IQ in children, and sometimes cancer. Cadmium and nickel are known human carcinogens. Lead has been linked to birth defects and developmental damage. Mercury is highly toxic, especially in the vapor form.
Please help me protect our environment by recycling your old batteries. Please place all of your old batteries into the recycling container in the school office.
Sincerely,
Blake DuValle
