GIRLS ON THE RUN INFORMATION
GIRLS ON THE RUN IS SO MUCH FUN!
Parents – Do you have a girl in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade?
We are happy to announce that Citrus will be hosting a Girls on the Run team this fall!
Registration is open and will stay open until a team of 15 is complete or August 30- whichever comes first.
Girls on the Run is WAY more than a running program. Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-15 girls taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches, we teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment.
At each season's conclusion, the girls complete a 5K (3.1 miles) fun run. Completing the 5K gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they CAN.
Our fall 2017 season will begin the week of September 4, 2017. Girls meet two times per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) right after-school (2:30-3:45). The celebratory GOTR 5K fun run will be held Saturday November 11 in Bidwell Park.
Registration is on a first come – first serve basis. Be sure to register your daughter as soon as possible. You can visit our website at www.gotrNorthState.org for more information and to download a registration form – or you can get a registration form from our site liaison Melanie Winslow. The program fee is $125. Discounted rates are offered based on yearly, household income. The program fee includes the ten-week program, registration for the end-of-season 5k event, a shirt and finisher’s medal. Have your girl grab her running shoes and join the Girls on the Run team!
Important Library Info
As we approach the beginning of a brand new school year please take a moment to review this important information regarding our Citrus Library.
Dear Citrus Parent,
Please urge your children to practice reading every day, as reading ability is key to success in school and in life. You can help by reading with your kids each day at home.
To encourage reading success, every Citrus class visits the library each week. You are responsible for your student’s library use. Parents will be expected to pay the replacement price for any lost or damaged books. Avoid this by helping your child find a safe place to keep library books, away from siblings, pets, food and liquids. A backpack is usually the best spot, as long as there are no leaky water bottles inside!
If your child still owes Citrus a book from last year, he or she will not be permitted to borrow this year until the overdue book is returned or paid for. Please help your child meet this responsibility so they have access to borrowing books they can get excited about reading.
Questions about your child’s borrower account at the Citrus Library? Email our Library clerk, Mrs. Gray, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Citrus Birthday Book Club
The Citrus Birthday Book Club is a lasting and meaningful way to celebrate your child’s birthday or honor your child’s special achievement. And it’s easy! Just order a new book from our Amazon wish list, and your child’s name and why they’re being honored will inscribed inside for the whole school to appreciate.
Our Amazon wish list is called Citrus School Library. Order any book from the list and have it sent to: Citrus School Library, 1350 Citrus Ave., Chico CA 95926. Send a note to our librarian Mrs. Gray (email@example.com) with your child’s name and why they are being honored, to let us know the book is coming. When the book arrives, your child will get to be the first person to borrow the book and share it with her/his class. The book will be added to the library, and everyone who reads it will know how great your kid is!!
Email Mrs. Gray with questions or leave her a message at 891-3097 ext. 146
