Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
I want to extend a warm welcome back! This is a long welcome, so please read and bear with me. We all have been so excited to welcome your children and have them back into our classrooms after the delay due to the heat! Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders. I’m thrilled to see how many new families we have this year! We’ve truly enjoyed seeing you all at Open House and at our first of two Kindergarten Orientations! We look forward to jumping into an amazing 2023-24 school year!
Our last couple of days with our Stars have been packed with getting-to-know-you activities, modeling, teaching, practicing, sharing great stories from the summer, and building relationships. Getting back into a routine can be difficult after a long break. However, the students have made this transition terrific! We have already had our first PV PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) where students in grades 1-4 learn the importance of Being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn! Ask your child about it!
PV staff members are very happy to have all the children back in the building. We look forward to a successful school year! It is very evident to us that this is only possible with the support of our terrific Pleasant Valley families. We look forward to partnering with you as we know that you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Your children are our most valuable resource and the reason for doing what we do, and we thank you for sharing them with us.
Information about our Annual Fundraiser will be shared with you next week. The Fundraiser will run from September 14-28, 2023. Fundraisers funds go directly to the student experience at Pleasant Valley.
Please keep this in mind... If you hear something from your child that just doesn’t seem right, check with your child’s teacher immediately. Should safety ever be compromised in any way, I will promptly notify all families. Creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment is critical to educating and preparing our students to achieve their highest potential. The safety of your children will always be at the forefront. We have a very dedicated staff who work hard to ensure that your child is welcomed and dismissed safely each and every day, whether via car, bus, or walking.
I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are very appreciative of all of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.843.3867 any weekday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Parents of Car Riders ***IMPORTANT ***
Thank you for your patience throughout the first week of school as we worked to change the carrider procedure to increase effciency. With the addition of over 150 Kindergarten students starting on Tuesday, please continue to be patient as students, staff, and parents all learn the new procedures.
Please review and follow the below procedures.
Parents must remain in the car during drop off and pick up.
All STEM students must enter and exit on the driver's side of the car. All Traditional studnets must enter and exit from the passenger's side of the car.
Students should be practicing how to enter and exit the car on their own. As soon as your car is stopped and in the appropriate areas please encourage students to get out and on the sidewalk as quickly as possible.
For dismissal, display your car rider number on your front dashboard or mirror.
Practice your car rider number with your child.
Please visit this link for more information on the arrival and dismissal procedures for the 2023-2024 school year.
For more information about procedures at Pleasant Valley, please utilize the following link to access our Parent/Student handbook.
Attendance Procedures
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office at: 440-843-3867 no later then 9:50 am. If the absence requires a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor’s note when they return to school. Daily student attendance is a vital component of student academic success. With the requirements of House Bill 410, the state of Ohio requires each school district to communicate with families when a child is considered chronically absent.

Birthday "Treats" & Invites
If a generous family would like their child to pass out a birthday treat, we recommend a non-edible one that can be passed out and sent home at the end of the day.
If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.
Gifts for students may not be delivered to the school. Balloon deliveries, gift baskets, flowers, etc. disrupt the educational process for all students. Birthday parties during the school day can not be accommodated.
Please check with the classroom teacher before sending any birthday or other treats to school for the class.
Some of our children have food allergies; therefore, all treats must be ready to pass out to the class, store-bought, labeled with ingredients, and individually wrapped.
Store-bought cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable.
Distributing invitations to non-school activities such as birthday parties is prohibited unless all students of at least one gender in the class are invited.
