Note from Gina
I am excited about the news from Dr. Marty this past week as we get closer to the possibility of a return to school. The staff and I continue to get updates from Dr. Marty, so right now, we don't yet have details to share. What I can tell you is that in the building, our goal is to keep everyone safe while maintaining as much normalcy as possible.
Many of you might be wondering about staffing. Human resources will give us information about staffing as plans unfold. No matter what the outcome, our loving staff are experts at supporting children through any transition.
Thank you for your trust and support during this very unusual time.
Have a great weekend!
Gina

Assistant Principal Pointers
- Teachers will be using the Waiting Room feature on Zoom. When you log on to the link, you will see a message that says, "Please wait, the meeting host will let you in soon." Please stay logged in and wait for the teacher to bring you into the meeting. We appreciate your patience!
- While we know that this virtual learning platform has been an adjustment, we know that your children have been working hard and learning new routines. Please think about what has been going well for your child. Then think about a goal you have for your child to finish this first quarter on a positive note. What would you like to see in the second quarter? Think about what your child needs to be successful to make these goals achievable. Make sure to share it with the teacher!
- Lastly, think about any social or academic questions or concerns you have, and be ready to share those with the teacher as well.
If there is anything Gina and I can do to help you with conferences or with the transition to the second quarter, please do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you for your support!

Masks and Lanyards for Sale!
PTO is selling masks and lanyards to celebrate to a return to in-person learning!
- Masks are $5.00 and come in adult and child sizes. They are available in black or white. Few quick notes: ALL ORDERS ARE DUE BY NEXT THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1ST. There is a $5.00 handling fee for all orders. This does not change if you order 1 mask or 50. Once the masks are packaged for delivery, they will have zero contact with anyone until you remove them from the bag. All orders will be shipped directly to the school. PTO will post when they arrive and have a drive thru pickup. Who can’t use another mask, right?! Click Here For Masks
- Lanyards Kids can attach their masks to the lanyard so they don’t fall on the floor or get lost outside at recess. Each lanyard will cost $2.00. And because we ordered them from a different vender, we will have these for sale at mask pick up. We are asking that if you would like to purchase one, that you use the link below and let us know how many. Payment of cash or check (made out to Pierremont PTO) will be due at the time of pickup. P.E. UPDATE FOR OCTOBER
Wow! It's hard to believe that October is around the corner already! We have been incredibly LUCKY to have such great weather in September. So many students have shared about their outdoor weekend adventures. Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Skiba have been taking advantage also with walking during their lunch time. (We even ran into a friendly game of kickball with some Panthers!) Check out the picture below...
While September focused on locomotor/ non-locomotor and health related components of fitness, and disease prevention. October will continue with the addition of skill related components of fitness which include: balance, agility, reaction time, and coordination.
Some reminders for virtual PE:
1. Equipment for next week: paper (4-5sheets), small soft ball (pair of socks/ small stuffed animal), and pillow for balance activities.
2. No food or gum during class! We don't want anyone choking! We can't help and if an adult is somewhere else in the house they may not realize the situation.
3. Students should have their name listed on Zoom and be visible on the screen (unless we have a note from parents).
From our School Counselors
This month in Kindergarten, Mrs. Seeger taught students about the Role of a School Counselor using a “counseling toolbox”. The box was full of objects that represent all of the ways a counselor can help! For example, a heart because we care, an ear because we listen and a puzzle because we help solve problems.
2nd graders learned about the word, RESILIENT! We discussed that resilience is the ability to bounce back from stress or something challenging. As we know, this is more important than ever. This month we focused on identifying stressors and emotions. Next month, we will explore positive coping strategies as a way to help build resilience.\
Ms. Fluchel is teaching lessons in 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. This month's lessons are focusing on what we can and cannot control. We talked about life changing events and what we can do to react to situations that are out of our control. Respect is another topic we are working on this month. The lessons are centered around respect for others, for others' cultures and beliefs as well as respect for self and things.
It's wonderful to share these times and lessons with your children!
