AEHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
February 12, 2023
Happy Sunday. I want to start this week's message by saying, "Go EAGLES!"
I also want to highlight information below about the upcoming Fentanyl Forum that will take place on Saturday, February 25 at Northwood HS. Space is limited, so please be sure to sign up. Please see additional information below about this very informative and timely event.
You might recall that on Monday evening, January 23, following the January 20 lockdown event, we held a community meeting to give an overview of what occured and to field questions from families. I understand that not everyone was able to attend the meeting and want to share the Community Meeting presentation with you. In the presentation you will note questions we anticipated and addressed, and next steps that were taken following the meeting and that we are working on as system moving forward; particularly surrounding communication. I want to also note that a suggestion that was made that the school should practice scenarios during non-instructional time so students who are not in class at the time of an emergency knows what to do. I am also happy to share that we did practice this prior to the lockdown, and we "train" students and staff during Titan Time prior to conducting each emergency drill.
During the PTSA meeting next Tuesday, February 21, we will be sharing our emergency drill procedures with the community. Please join us if you can. This will be an opportunity to learn how we carryout, plan, and communicate expectations and procedures to students and staff regarding emergency drills. PTSA meeting information can be found below.
Thank you to everyone who signed up to be a presenter and/or who shared the opportunity with others to be a presenter at our upcoming Career Day event on Friday, March 3. As of this message we have 111 professionals who signed up to be a presenter. We are just 14 professionals away from realizing our goal of 125 professionals. There is still time to sign up! If time permits, please sign up and/or share the opportunity to e a presenter.
I also want to draw to your attention again, that report cards were distributed to students in homerooms last week and are also available in ParentVue.
In closing I would like to say E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!!
Have a great week!
Mark

Fentanyl Forum (NEW)
Career Day (REPEAT)
AEHS has partnered with our PTSA to host a school-wide Career Day on Friday, March 3, 2023. This is a scheduled early release day.
On this day, we would like to have one career day speaker in every class, every period. We need your help to make that happen! Please see THIS flyer and share with friends, families, and associates you may know in any industry. Speakers do not have to be a degreed professional. We are looking for professionals who are in the military and trades as well. The flyer includes a QR code and link to THIS survey, which is being used to collect presenters information. We are also hopeful to forge partnerships with these business people so we can send students to them for future internship, school, and employment opportunities.
This is a first of it's kind at Albert Einstein High School. We are beyond excited for this event, and need your support!
SAT School Day (NEW)
The message below was previously shared via email on Wednesday, February 8.
Good evening, Einstein Students and Parents/Guardians:
I am writing to share that the SAT Exam will be offered to every junior (Class of 2024) for free (no cost!) on Wednesday, March 22nd from 7:45am-12:00pm. Every junior is already registered and will not need to register for this test at any point; they only need to arrive to school on test day by 7:30am.
Freshman, sophomores, and seniors who wish to sit for the SAT may register by completing this Google Form by Wednesday, March 1st. The cost for these students is $60 or $8 for students who qualify for free and reduced meals. These students will receive a bill for the test by March 8th and must pay for the test before March 22nd. Students who register and pay but do not sit for the exam will not receive a refund.
Please note that we are still organizing the schedule and list of activities for non-test takers for that day, but that information will be released by Wednesday, March 8th.
If you have any questions, please contact me at Aliciamarie_J_Johnson@mcpsmd.org.
Thank you!

AEHS Local Project Prom (REPEAT)
Einstein is also collecting donations in hopes of running our own "Project Prom" of sorts in early April! The purpose is to collect gently used prom attire for students, to reduce the cost associated with proms.
Teens within our Einstein community who are in need of formal wear will have the opportunity on a Saturday in early April to come and select what they need at no cost to them! The media center will be accepting the following donations until March 17th:
- Gently worn or new dresses (sizes 0-26) (prom, bridesmaids, cocktail and after five)
Gently worn or new shoes (sizes 0-12) (strappy sandals, pumps, mid to high heels, men's dress shoes)
Gently worn tan pants, dress pants (any size for all genders)
Ties, purses, bow ties, any accessories!
Thank you for your time and contributions we are hoping the combined effort enables young adults who participate in Project Prom not only to look their best, but feel their best on this special occasion!!
Ms. Katelyn Klenk (Social Studies Teacher)
Once Upon a Prom (REPEAT)
Once Upon A Prom (OUAP) is a BCC club dedicated to providing free prom dresses to any girls whose economic or personal circumstances create hardships in their lives. All dresses are new or very gently worn. We have over 2,000 dresses in our collection, in all sizes and styles. Our doors are open to everyone. No student ID is required for entry.
Our mission is to ensure that prom is an inclusive event for all juniors and seniors. According to recent statistics, teens spend an average of $600-$800 on proms. The cost makes prom prohibitive for some teens. We want to ensure that this dream comes true for all students.
