Greetings North Wales Families,
I hope you enjoyed your holiday and Spring Break relaxing and spending time with friends and families. We are ready to tackle April with courage, hard work and determination. This month we celebrate Autism Awareness Month. Every Friday this month we are going to Light It Up Blue, by wearing our North Wales spirit wear or something blue.
Our students earned their first school incentive for PBIS! We filled up our fish tank with whales. Students will enjoy a movie and popcorn in their classrooms this week! Thank you to our families and staff for helping our students Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.

Reading Before Screening- Schoolwide Reading Incentive Program
North Wales Elementary School challenges themselves to read before they spend time on the screen.
Here is your mission…
North Wales will read 70,000 pages from Friday, March 24 through Friday, April 28, 2023.
Students will have a goal to read or be read to for 20 minutes per day. When a book is completed, record the number of pages and have a parent sign the recording slip. Each grade level will try to “LEVEL UP” by meeting goals along the way. As reading goals are met, your race car will progress along the track! Check the board to see how your grade level is performing.
Don’t forget…When you finish a book, record it on a slip and turn it in to your teacher.
Please review the details for our incentive program. Please help us reach 70,000 pages

Cultural Highlights For The Week and Austism Acceptance Month
Autism Acceptance Month
National Autism Awareness Month raises awareness for autism and Asperger’s syndrome during April. Autism is a complex brain disorder that often inhibits a person’s ability to communicate, respond to surroundings, and form relationships with others. Autism spectrum disorder now affects 1 in 68 children. Boys are nearly 4 times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ASD.
The term stems from the Greek word ‘autos’ meaning “self”, autism literally means “alone”.
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder may be very creative and find a passion and talent for music, theater, art, dance and singing quite easily.
Orthodox Easter- Sunday, April 16th
Orthodox Easter is celebrated by families primarily (but not exclusively) from the countries of Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, and Russia.
Smart Watch/ Cell Phone Reminder
We have seen a growing number of students using electronic devices and sending/receiving text messages throughout the day, which has disrupted the learning environment. Please note, cell phones should be in silent mode or turned off and stored in bookbags throughout the day. Smartwatches should not be used to make calls, send messages, or take photos/videos during the school day. Also, note the school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices. Our school team will be reminding our students of these expectations regarding personal devices.
We thank all of our families for their continued support and cooperation in limiting disruptions to the classroom.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
