Week in Review
Language Arts
- Students completed flexible centers on their own this week. Students did an independent reading response, ordered the events from informational text on IXL, reviewed their spelling words on Spelling City and read with Mrs. C.
- This week's comprehension skill was sequencing and summarizing. Students read Winn Dixie and identified the important details. Students used Clips to record each event.
- Students reviewed how the parts of a letter and wrote a letter to our friends at Barclay. We will be sending the letters over with the spider plants that they planted with Ms. Lynch!
- Students also worked on writing their families a letter for Back-to-School Night.
Math
- Students have completed their Fact Fluency test for addition, subtraction and multiplication. We will use these scores to help guide their fluency practice each week. Students should spend about 20 minutes a night on First in Math. Our goal is for each student to reach 100% on their Goals Index. The Goals Index includes work on Word Problems (Know & Show), Fact Fluency (Gyms), Procedural Fluency (Skill Sets) and Activity (Stickers).
- This week we covered a few topics related to understanding place value. Topics included Numbers through one million, place value relationships, comparing whole numbers and rounding.
- Next week students will work on problem solving and will take a test on the lessons covered in Topic 1. I will post a review sheet to Seesaw, and will send one home tomorrow. The test will be on Wednesday.
To help you stay organized
- I will check my email each morning before 8:10am, again during specials at 10:05 and during recess & lunch at 12:05. If you need to reach me outside of these times, please call the school at 610-719-0240. You can also leave a message with Ms. Robyn.
- Students will bring their green communication folders and their assignment books each night & should return them to school the following day. When students arrive to school in the morning, they are responsible for putting them in the blue bin by the white board. This will help me gather important paperwork.
- Binders will primarily be kept at school. We will use them to organize classwork and projects. They will be sent home on occasion and should always be returned the following day.
- Monday is A-Day, and students will have Gym. Wear gym uniforms.
