Religion Origin
Most Historians agree that Buddhism originated in northern India in the 5th century B.C.E. About 2500 years ago, a prince named Siddhartha Guatama. He left his palace and saw a sick man, an old man, a dead man, and a monk. These things the prince saw showed him that he wasn't inescapable from sickness and death. Siddartha spent many years doing religious practices. He realized that there was a higher calling , while he was sitting underneath a fig tree in Bodh Gaya, India.

Diffusion
An Indian emperor named Asoka supported the Buddhism religion and helped move this belief throughout India. He sent missionaries all the way to Syria, which greatly helped this religion.
