History of Jelly Belly
Founderer Gustav Goelitz opened a candy store at the age of 24 in 1869. On 1894, he passed the store to his son to continue the business. Soon, the 3rd and 4th generation created the first mini Jelly Belly jelly beans. Afterwards, the mini jelly beans were discovered by California's Governor, Ronald Reagan , who really liked them. It became his favorite treat. The world then discovered Governor Reagan savors the new, colorful creation. He liked them so much, 2.5 tons of that chewy goodness was shipped for his inauguration of his presidency in Washington DC. After that, a company headquarters was built by the Jelly Belly, and soon, they started giving tours for the jelly bean fans to explore the bright and delicious world.They also started stamping ‘Jelly Belly’ on every single jelly bean. According to that, the name Goelitz was changed to Jelly Belly. That's how Jelly Belly got started!
