Covid Positive Update

On Friday afternoon we learned that an individual in the MHS tested positive for Covid-19. All students and staff in the Middle and High School will be remote on Monday, November 16th so that the building can be cleaned and sanitized. As of right now, we are only remote on Monday and we will keep you updated through emails and the OneCall System on any potential changes to in-person instruction.

All students are expected to follow their normal schedules for class instruction. Monday is a "D" day and attendance will be taken for each class throughout the day. If your child has any questions or concerns, they should email their classroom teacher directly.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

UPDATE: We have added a second half-day of parent/teacher conferences to accommodate everyone. Conferences will be held on Monday AND Tuesday, November 23 and 24. Both days will now be half-days for students.

Adirondack Educational Facility News

Due to ongoing Covid cases, the Franklin County Health Department has advised that all schools in Franklin County must go to full remote instruction for their students. This will affect our LPHS students who attend BOCES in Saranac Lake. Transportation to or from school will be provided for those students who attend part of their day at LPHS. Please contact the main office if you have any questions.

Olympic Oval Skating Pass

This year the MHS will be working with ORDA to coordinate season passes for the Olympic Oval for all students in grades 6-12. The passes are $5.00 per student (cash preferred). We are also accepting donations for additional passes that can be donated to students this winter. If you are interested in purchasing or donating a pass, please see Mrs. Mayberry or Mrs. Taylor in the Main Office.

Remote Learning Information

A reminder that in order to become a remote student, a conversation will need to take place between the building principal (Mrs. Casey or Ms. Lindsay), the student, and parent/guardian BEFORE being allowed to remote into classes. Please call the office at (518) 523-2474 for questions.

COVID 19 Reminders

  • Masks must be worn while at school by all students, teachers, and staff. Bandanas and neck gators are not adequate face coverings.
  • Social distancing is required. Maintaining a distance of 6 feet is required at all times.
  • Frequent hand-washing is required.

Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion

LPCSD invites interested people of all ages to join a work group on a diversity, equity and inclusion policy, sometimes referred to as a diversity policy. If you are interested in being part of this work group, please contact Board member Martha Spear at 518-946-7851 or mspear@lakeplacidcsd.net.

Volunteer Opportunities

Just a reminder that all students must have 40 hours of community service to graduate. Keep checking back for volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

  • Ecumenical Food Collection Days: See below for more information.

Don't forget, a parent/guardian can volunteer along with their student and earn double the hours toward the graduation requirement. Please see Mrs. Patti McConvey for more volunteer opportunities and don't forget to fill out and hand in those volunteer forms!
