Sport - Week 8 Term 4
Tauranga Primary School
Tauranga Primary School appreciates the support of the Lion Foundation, who provide funding for our Sport Co-ordinator role.
Jo's Sport Talk
Luckily, we have been able to complete both the Junior and Middle School Athletics Championships over the last couple of weeks. The kids enjoyed both events, performing the athletics skills they have been practicing throughout the term. The 'whanau group relay' at the Middle School Athletics was particularly exciting, with Whaea Jen's team winning the race, the Morgan Mob coming in 2nd, and the Catley Crew in 3rd place.
Whakamihi to our overall Middle School Champions:
Year 3 Girls: 1st Erin Moores, 2nd Phoebe Stefan, 3rd Olivia Narayan
Year 3 Boys: 1st Beau Gosling, 2nd Charlie Davis, 3rd Mikaere Rae-Bidois
Year 4 Girls: 1st Maia Pomare-Tahana, 2nd Zoe Magnusson, 3rd Maraea Toko-Ahipene
Year 4 Boys: 1st Oliver Preston, 2nd Elliot Deckers, 3rd Lewis Hayler
TERM 4 SPORT
Unfortunately, it has been another disrupted term for primary school sport. I would like to thank everyone for their understanding and flexibility in adapting to competitions where restrictions were applied and the events sometimes suddenly cancelled. We all took it in our stride. Nga mihi to the parents, siblings and ex-TPS students who have generously donated their time to coach and manage our sports teams. Without your support, primary school sport would not be possible.
Mini Polo was the last sport to play their final games for 2021 on Tuesday night. Mahi pai to the TPS SHARKS, our Year 5&6 Mini Polo Team, who won the B grade final. Check out the photo below of the team celebrating their win.
All sport uniforms and sports equipment borrowed from the school must now be returned to the school office or sports office in the Tech building.
TERM 1 2022 SPORT
I am slowly starting to receive information for sport in Term 1 2022. TPS will enter sports teams into the following sports:
- Mini Polo @ Memorial Pool on Tuesdays
- Fast Football @ Morland Fox Park on Tuesdays
- Rippa and RIP Rugby @ Greerton Rugby Club on Thursdays
- Kiwi Volleyball @ QEYC on Fridays
Further information will be available in January 2022, and registrations will be open in week 1 of Term 1 2022 on school shop. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me via email.
Finally, I would like to thank the Murray Family and Ballance Agri-Nutrients who kindly donated six big barrels to TPS. These will be used for our Top Schools Team for years to come, to practice the "Magic Carpet" activity.
I am located in the school Tech block during the hours below, otherwise email is a reliable source of contact.
My office hours:
· Monday 11:00am - 3:00pm
· Tuesday and Wednesday 11:30am - 3:00pm
· Thursday 9:00am -3:00pm
