Hillcrest STEAM Academy Newsletter
November 2018
From the Office...
Hello STEAM Families,
October was a full month, as we accomplished so much!
- 119 students did not miss a minute of school during first quarter! This shows the commitment our families have to education.
- Parent Teacher Conferences were largely a success. Thank you for providing feedback, as we aim to improve conferences each year. We have read through every comment given in the feedback form, and sincerely appreciate feedback.
- Trunk or Treat was a huge success. Thank you to the PTA for putting this on, and welcoming over 1000 people to the event.
Looking ahead, teachers have a lot of projects planned for November. Students are immersed in a variety of units that focus on STEAM. Continue to stay involved by communicating with classroom teachers, and volunteering if you are able to! We always welcome volunteers.
We truly believe Hillcrest STEAM Academy is a special place, and great things happen each day. Do you have an idea to make it even better? Feel free to reach out to Dr. Pearson or Dr. Winkelmann.
Wishing you well,
-Dr. Pearson and Dr. Winkelmann
Digital Citizenship and Devices
Do you have digital concerns about your child on the Internet at home? Check out this website that is filled with information on highly relevant topics on parent concerns.
Changing Seasons
As the weather is changing quickly, please remember to send your child to school in a coat, hat, and gloves. Students will have outdoor recess as long as the wind chill is above 20 degrees. The students will not be allowed to stay in during colder temperatures unless there is a note from the doctor specifying that your child cannot go outside for recess due to medical reasons. We want to help every student stay healthy, and wearing a coat is an easy way to accomplish this. We will not take the students outside if there is thunder, lightening, or heavy precipitation.
Please remember that if your child is sick to notify the office. You can email us at hillcrest@bsd124.org or call the school at (816) 348-1130. Our office hours are from 8:40-4:40. You can call outside of those hours and leave a voicemail to notify us of your child’s absence.
Kelly Services
The Belton School District and Kelly Educational Staffing (KES) would like to announce their partnership in the management of Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals for the 2018/2019 school year. KES is a partner to over 7,000 schools nationwide who are trusted to provide continuity when teachers are absent. KES does more than any other staffing company to prepare their substitute educators to succeed in every classroom. If you are interested in becoming an instructional substitute, we invite you to contact KES at 364R@kellyservices.com or 816-524-5172.
