PHHS School Counseling Newsletter

Fall 2017

Welcome Back Vikings!

We are excited to begin our 2017-2018 school year here at PHHS! We have a lot going on this fall, including college & career fairs, PSATs, parent and student meetings, Naviance orientations, and much more! In this newsletter, you will find any important counseling information relevant to this semester.

What's Going on in the Counseling Office?

We are currently working with our freshman to transition them into high school. Our sophomores are being introduced to their new school counselors who will be working with them for the next three years. We are getting them acquainted to Naviance, our online college and career portal. Many of our sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSATs on October 11th. A large portion of our seniors are in the process of applying to college. We are working closely and individually with them to make sure they are on track to graduate and have all of their college application requirements completed.

Individual Parent Meetings for Sophomore and Junior Parents

Parents, be on the look out for an email from Sign-Up Genius. Individual parent meetings for Sophomore and Junior parents will be taking place in November and December. You will be meeting with your child's counselor to discuss his/her academic progress and future plans.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Seniors who are applying for college are encouraged to check out the many scholarships available to them. Local scholarships are currently being posted on Naviance. These scholarships are updated regularly throughout the year. Students should also visit and for many other scholarship opportunities.

Students in need of financial aid can fill out the FAFSA now. Visit to get started.
