Hemlock & K.C. Ling Elementary Newsletter

The Week of August 31st - September 4th

Welcome Back, Huskies!

Wow! What a great start to the new school year! It feels so great to see students sitting in desks again. I hope you and your students are adjusting well to the routines. One of those new routines deals with the morning drop-off procedures for parents. Remember, students are not to be dropped off before 7:25 a.m. at Hemlock Elementary and 7:30 a.m. at K.C. Ling. If you are dropping students off in the line-up, please have them exit your vehicle on the passenger side along the sidewalk. If your child needs assistance, please park in the parking lot and walk them across to keep the flow of traffic moving steadily. Children should not walk from the parking lot to the sidewalk unattended.

As always, thank you for all your support!

The Pack is Back!

Virtual Meals

Want lunch for your kids when they are at home remote learning? These meals are for any student. Whatever a students' status is for regular lunch - free, reduced or full pay, it is the same for virtual meals.

Teachers will be asking the students each day if they want a virtual meal to get a count for food service. The meals will be delivered to the students' classrooms at the end of the day.

The virtual meals are the same meals as what was served that day for lunch.

What's for Lunch?

Wondering what's for lunch? You can find it on our app. Copies of each building's lunch menu are listed in the District's Document section. See the picture below for easy to follow steps.

**MUST be in the District building (top right corner in the app), do not select the specific school.

NWEA Testing

Over the course of the next three weeks, all of our students will be participating in NWEA testing. The results of these tests allow us to provide instruction that is tailored to student achievement data. These test results also help us measure your student’s academic growth throughout the school year as they are administered three times each year (Fall, Winter, Spring). If you have opted for the virtual-only option for the beginning of the school year, the classroom teacher will be contacting you to schedule a testing time for your child to be assessed.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the NWEA tests, please feel free to contact Mrs. Gensch.
