Central Avenue Elementary
Tonya Middling - Principal
Kristin Hillius - Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Can you believe we are half way through the school year? On Friday, our students had a day off from school, while our teachers received training. This year, a part of our training focuses on looking at our mid-year data and making appropriate lesson plans, as we continue to fill in areas of unfinished student learning from the past 18 months. We appreciate having this important time together as a staff.
I am happy to announce that we can start welcoming volunteers back into our school! Volunteers at Central Avenue have helped teachers, given students more practice with skills, and even helped to supervise recess. They help prepare materials for projects, put assignments together, and help with bulletin boards. While we do require that volunteers are vaccinated to help in the school, there are other ways volunteers can help teachers, even from home. If you are interested in volunteering, please see the important information below!
Mrs. Middling
It's great to be a Wildcat!

NEW SCHOOL AND PROCEDURES
We had a great first month in our new school. It was exciting to see our Wildcats as they navigate throughout our new school, and get into their routines and become familiar with the layout of the school and playground! We continue to work on procedures as we see what works. Thank you for remembering the following;
- Calling when your child is going to be absent. We must ask about symptoms.
- Understanding that picking up your child early means before 3:30.
- We have a wonderful bus system, we would be happy to get you the route information for your child.
PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR RECORDS UP TO DATE

UPCOMING LEVY
Franklin Pierce Schools will have two measures on the February 8, 2022 Ballot.
Proposition 1: Educational Programs and Operations is a replacement levy that provides 15% of the FPS Operating Budget.
Funds go toward teachers and paraeducators, counselors, social workers, counselors, social workers, health and safety staff, and arts, music and athletics. Prop 1 replaces an existing levy passed by voters in 2018 at $4.74/ $1,000 with a new levy set at $2.50/$1,000 from 2023-2026. This is not a tax rate increase and will provide vital funding for academic achievement, social emotional learning, health and safety, and expanded opportunities.
Proposition 2: Instructional Technology is a replacement levy that funds technology access for all students.
Funds go toward computing devices for each student, 21st Century classroom technology, remote learning technology and access, cybersecurity infrastructure and IT support staff. Prop 2 replaces an existing levy passed by voters in 2018 at $.41/1,000 with a new levy set at $.41/$1,000 to support continued investment in technology from 2023-2026. This is not a tax rate increase and will provide vital funding for technology access to support student learning.
