Weekly Hook
Week 22: Feb 3-7, 2020
Keep Pushing!
Well.....we made it through the longest month ever! I laughed at all the memes you shared about the month of January. With the long-awaited arrival of the month of February, we are almost halfway through the third nine weeks. We are headed in the right direction and our students have shown great growth based on the results of their winter diagnostics. (I will discuss this data with you all at PLCs this week.)
We must keep pushing our kids to work hard and achieve at high levels. At the grade level student assemblies last week, I told students that failure was not an option. If work is assigned to them they are expected to do it. I want you all to hold them accountable for doing the work you assign. If students need to be pulled from their electives to complete missing homework, bell ringers, classwork etc.,- do it. If you need to keep them after school to assist them with their work - do it. Whatever it takes for students to do what is expected of them and what they are capable of, we need to push them to do it. Eventually they will realize that failure is not an option!!
Let's have another great week at PCMS!

Our first school dance was a success!! We had a great turn out at the Beta Club sponsored dance on Friday night. Students were well behaved and had a lot of fun. Dr. Evers even made an appearance and did the cupid shuffle with our students! One thing that struck me at the dance is how kind and inclusive our students are to each other. It was a wonderful end to the Month of Kindness!
Thank you to Mrs. Childers and Mrs. Rogers and the Beta Club students for all their work in organizing it and putting it on. Shout out to Ms. Huynh, Mrs. Posey, Ms. Rishel, Nurse Jackie and all the parent volunteers for chaperoning.
PCMS Robotics is on Fire!!
Pass Christian Middle School robotics team Delta did a fantastic job at their competition on Saturday. They competed against middle and high schools and placed 12th in Skills and 10th in Qualifications! PCMS Delta was awarded the Design Award for the ability to implement the most effective and efficient robot design process. The team was formed less than 2 months ago and now they have taken home an award at both of the competitions they have participated in. PCMS Delta will be representing Pass Christian School District in the VRC division at State on February 21st!
FYI...
After the student assemblies last week we were "challenged" on the no chewing gum issue. After looking through the student handbook guess what......?! No where in the handbook is it indicated that students cannot chew gum. Therefore, it is at your discretion to allow students to chew gum or not. If you do, please remind students about proper disposal of gum. This article can help you with deal with gum chewing in class:
