Digital Bulldog Bites

PrinciPAW's Corner

Shreve Island is such a wonderful and unique school. One thing that makes us unique is that with nearly 750 students, we only use three Caddo school buses! Therefore, Shreve Island has very long carpool lines. We are proud that our well-developed carpool procedures gets over 400 students safely loaded in cars and on their way by 3:15 PM. I want to sincerely thank you parents for your patience and cooperation in following the carpool rules. Though it is often tempting to circumvent the line, abiding fairly by these rules sets a great example for our students. This issue of Bulldog Bites is dedicated to helping clarify these guidelines. If you have any questions about how to correctly get through carpool, please call the school.

Walk-to-School Day

On October 8th, Shreve Island families will participate in Walk-to-School Day. Participating students must return a signed permission slip. Everyone will meet at 6:50 AM at the Broadmoor Library. Then we will walk as a group to school.

Cell Phone Use is Prohibited

It is a law that while you are in a school zone, you may NOT be on a cell phone. Please put down your phones, especially when driving through the carpool lane. Parents on cell phones have come close to injuring students and teachers in the carpool driveway. For the safety of our students, teachers, and yourself, please obey the laws.

Front Carpool Guidelines

1. Before 8:00 AM and before 3:15 PM, you may NOT turn left into the carpool lane!

2. If you see a car with a yellow tag hanging from the windshield, it is a school employee. Please let them into the carpool line.

3. If you want to pull into the school parking lot during carpool hours, you must wait in the carpool line to do so.

Back Carpool Guidelines

1. You may only turn left into the carpool circle. No right turns, please.

2. Entering carpool through Surrey is prohibited.

3. If you see a car with a yellow tag hanging from the windshield, it is a school employee. Please let them into the carpool line.
