For the Best Students Around
The week of April 20 -24
Teachers are reporting that so many of their students logged on and engaged in assignments this week, we are shooting for 100% participation so log into clever and show your teacher you are there!
A huge thank you to our teachers as well as our amazing students.
I dropped into a couple of Google Hangouts and looked at a few assignments in some Google classrooms, and the caliber of work our teachers are putting out there is impressive, I have been learning a lot!
One thing that I have heard from parents is they struggle with the amount of work that is coming their way. Our teachers are working hard to provide a quality educational experience during school closure, but we want to stress that as a parent you are helping to facilitate your child's learning and you know your child best. The goal for us is to not overwhelm you or your child with work. As a parent, please work with your child's teacher in creating a schedule that is beneficial to your child's success. The goal is quality time over quantity of time invested in work. It's better to have your child focused and working hard for a shorter amount of time than prolonging the work time and having that cause unnecessary stress and anxiety. Coordinate with your child's teacher on their daily workload. Remember, we are here for you!
Keep choosing EXCELLENCE in Everything you do and make it a great week!

Stress
Hi everyone! As we fully launched into distance learning last week, parents and children may have faced some added pressure. Most often, children have difficulty recognizing and acknowledging these feelings within themselves. Stress in our children can look like many things: they may be more irritable, have excessive energy, have difficulty managing impulses, become more withdrawn, have difficulty focusing, be more prone to headaches, have difficulty sleeping, and many more. It’s important to be attuned to these signs. Here are some tips for helping children manage stress:
Talk to your children about what’s going on and acknowledge their feelings. Use this link Things to Say for guidance.
Create and stick with a daily routine
Keep kids connected to their network of support- friends, teachers, coaches, etc.
Exercise daily
Eat healthy and sleep well
Take the time to have fun. Do something as a family that you all enjoy and use this time as an opportunity to create memories together.
The best ingredient to helping your children is by first helping yourself. Children tend to mirror our emotions. It’s okay to adjust your expectations of yourself and your children. This time is only temporary and we are all doing the best we can.
As always, know that I am here to support you and your children in this journey. Do not hesitate to reach out to me at acutler@eesd.net
