What is LEAD 2021?
LEAD 2021 is our road map for redefining education because your future matters today. It highlights many initiatives and goals for our students, staff, and community members. Each week in the Bransford Blast, we will spotlight a different component of LEAD 2021 at BES. Last week we highlight technology with our 1:1 roll-out. For more information on LEAD 2021, please click here.
Communication improvement a campus focus as well as a LEAD initiative. Families received a communication card at either meet the teacher and/or curriculum night. Grade-levels are sending home weekly e-mail communication as well as this weekly Smore. Staff members are also using blogs, Twitter, and Facebook to share daily happenings. If you have ideas or suggestions on how to improve communication and keep the school-home conversation going, please let us know by e-mailing your teacher or Jamie Halliburton at jamie.halliburton@gcisd.net. Thank you helping to keep the lines of communication open at BES!

Attendance
We look forward to seeing your children each and every day at school. However, we understand circumstances arise that will affect your children’s school attendance. Below, please find the attendance policies of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.
Doors open at 7:15 a.m. and students head to the classrooms at 7:35 a.m.
Class instruction starts at 7:45 a.m. Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. are marked late.
Tardies are issued starting at 8:00. Texas Education Code Section 25.094 Attendance for Credit law states that a child must be in class 90% of the time in order to be eligible for grade promotion. Unexcused tardies and early releases count towards time away from class.
You can report an absence by calling 817-305-4920. If the child goes to the doctor, thank you for sending a doctor’s note. If the child is sick but you didn’t go to the doctor, thank you for sending a written note from you explaining the absence. You may also email Shelly Sartin, our data secretary at shelly.sartin@gcisd.net to record the absence. Illness is an excused absence when a note is received.
When multiple absences, tardies, and/or early releases occur, two different types of letters are mailed to you as related to two different Texas Education Code, TEC, laws
Excused absences include, but are not limited to, illnesses with a note and religious observations. Unexcused absences include, but are not limited to, trips and illnesses without notes.
