Mustang Minute

April 2, 2021

"The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) aired a documentary . . . about Spaghetti growers in Switzerland―on April 1, 1957. . . Soon after the broadcast, the BBC received phone calls from viewers eager to know if spaghetti really grew on trees and how they might grow a spaghetti tree of their own." ―Leland Gregory

Spring Assessments

April Showers Bring May Assessments????

In addition to class assessments that our teachers use for learning, the district and state also administer assessments as well. Below are the assessments we will be administering next month.

MAP Testing (K-5)- District

Starting the week of May 3rd, students will be given the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) online assessment in the areas of Reading and Math. Below is information about this assessment. We will not only see where students are at with their skills but also see how much growth they have made this school year. Students have as much time as they need to complete the test.

ISA (5th)- STate

The Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) is administered to all 5th graders in the state of Illinois. This 3 part assessment covers a variety of science topics. Each testing session lasts up to an hour long. We plan to administer this assessment the week of May 10th. More information on how our Remote students will be given these assessments will be sent in the coming weeks.

IAR Testing (3rd-5th)- State

Starting the week of May 17, students in grades 3rd-5th grade will be administered the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). This is a series of 5 assessments (2 English Language Arts and 3 Math). These assessments will be done in person on students iPads. More information on how our Remote students will be given these assessments will be sent in the coming weeks.

April D.E.A.M. Calendar

Here is the DEAM Calendar for this month. This is not a required activity, but is a wonderful way to get moving and active with your family and friends. If you choose to do this, simply print out the calendar or copy it down on a piece of paper and do the activity listed each day of the month. If you complete the calendar you will be entered into a raffle for a prize from the PE teachers!

Have fun!
