How Can I Help You?
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you, from pulling library books to supporting what you are doing in the classroom through read alouds and library lessons....I'm happy to help!
OPAC Access
Our Follett Destiny program allows you to search our library holdings. If you do not have a link to our OPAC on your desktop, or if you should ever need to search for books when you are away from school, follow this link
https://destiny.hopkins.kyschools.us/ and click on Pride Elementary.
If you need help navigating the OPAC, please ask me! I'll be glad to give you a quick tour!
Do You Know Newsela?
Newsela provides current, relevant news articles for students to read for comprehension. Articles area available at five different lexile levels and there is a Spanish option. Students are given a quiz after reading the article to test comprehension and vocabulary. You can set up an account on Newsela and assign articles to your students in categories ranging from Science, to Money, to Health and the Arts.
Falcon News
We have a great group of students selected for our teams and we have started meeting. The plan is to have Falcon News up and running the week we come back from Fall Break. We will run the program through Teacher Tube which will allow everyone to log on and view on your Smartboards rather than running through a Closed Circuit channel. In addition to the morning announcements, the news team will announce daily menus, birthdays, student submitted jokes, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Book Trailers of the Month
Every month I will feature a book trailer or two highlighting books available in our school library. These will be books you may have missed as well as new titles. This month trailers are A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd and The Monkey Goes Bananas by C.P. Bloom. Both are contenders for the Kentucky Bluegrass Awards this year.

Falcons Flock to New Series
Lots of new Fiction books arrived over the summer and several new series have our students excited about reading! The Wild Rescue series by Burchett & Vogler and the Mermaid Kingdom books by Janet Gurtler don't stay on the shelves for long! Our younger Falcons are loving the new Tom and Jerry interactive books.
