September 2022
We're back!
We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer! We took a break from newsletters for the summer and worked on preparations for this upcoming fall. We are excited to share information about upcoming programs and services and remind you of what is available to Southborough's residents.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Across the country, mental health providers, advocates, organizations, survivors, and communities come together to promote suicide prevention awareness programs and initiatives. Check out these important opportunities and resources below.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988
Over the summer, legislation was passed designating the three digit number, 988, a route for callers to be directed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Modeled after the emergency response number, 911, the number 988 is designed to be easy to remember and quick, connecting callers with a trained mental health provider to respond to mental health emergencies and suicidality.
Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES)
Mobile Crisis Intervention is a type of mental health service that provides crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization. As an alternative to a hospital emergency room, these services may be provided in your home or in other locations in the community. The local agency Advocates, provides mobile crisis intervention to the Southborough community through their Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) team. Contact PES 24 hours a day 7 days a week for support with mental health or emotional crises.
