The 3Cs Connection
Student & Parent Newsletter for CCC - February 2023
We're halfway there
Cyclone Families,
We have made it halfway through the school year and I hope your student has fallen in love with their program at Chesapeake Career Center. It is important that they stay focused and finish strong. We still have lots of learning left to do in this school year.
We are excited as we head into the month of February because it is Black History Month and Career and Technical Education Month. At CCC, we will take time each day to celebrate the inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs who made an impact in both Career and Technical Education and African American History.
It is also time to apply to Chesapeake Career Center for the 2023-2024 school year. We offer 19 unique career and technical education programs in trades, industry and health occupations. Click HERE to check out our program offerings.

Career and Technical Education Month
What is CTE?
Career and Technical Education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE covers many different fields, including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, industry and trades, hospitality and management and many more career clusters. CTE encompasses many different types of education, from theory taught during classroom learning to laboratory settings, to certification programs to work-based learning opportunities outside the classroom. At CCC we have 17 specialized CTE Courses with three more onboarding next year. Please click
HERE for more information on the specific course offerings taught at CCC.

All services are free to the community. If you would like to donate to this program, please contact Dr. Kitchens at 757-547-0134. To find out more information about Buffalow Family and Friends, click

We are always excited to host tours, but the best guests are future Cyclones. Over the next month, we will welcome students from Chesapeake Center for Student Success and the Freshmen Seminar program from all seven High Schools.
It takes the collective effort of all of us to ensure that we all remain safe. One of the most effective ways to do that is to report anything that could affect the safety of our students and staff. Many threats are dealt with before they can come to fruition because of individuals willing to report directly to a trusted adult. That is strongly encouraged. We also encourage families to have discussions with their children about the seriousness of and consequences for these actions.
There are other ways that these safety concerns can be reported. CPS offers QuickTip, a way to anonymously report any safety concerns. The icon can be found on our webpages. The CrimeLine icon is also available on our webpages and that platform can be used to report concerns directly to the police department. You will also see the K-12 “Let’s Talk” icon on the CPS homepage and on many other CPS webpages. Clicking that will take you to another platform for registering concerns and asking questions. Non-pressing messages can be left here and they will be addressed by appropriate administrators. More information can be found on the CPS website. Of course, in any emergency situation, please call 911.
