November Newsletter
Time changes
As I write, there's a group of teenagers crammed into the YA area behind my office. They are being astonishingly quiet for so many kids in such a small space. Some of them I don't know and some I see nearly every day. Some of my regulars haven't turned up today. It turns out that there are often a lot of wonderful young people in this town who need a place to go.
As I write, it is 4:30 and the light is already fading and we haven't even switched the clocks yet. Time is flying and we're making plans for the winter. Reading and writing, watching movies and making things. It turns out that there are a lot of really interesting people in our community with lots of great ideas.
As I write, I look forward to November. I keep telling myself that things will slow down a bit and I'll have a chance to catch my breath. Then I look at the full-to-bursting library calendar and my to-do list. Turns out, I may have to wait 'til December for a rest.
