We are SO excited to welcome Watch D.O.G.S. back to Spring Creek!
What are Watch D.O.G.S?
Watch D.O.G.S. are Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father-figures serving at least one day on campus each year under the leadership of a program coordinator and under the guidance of a school principal or designated administrator. What do Watch D.O.G.S. do?
They have the best day ever! You will start the day helping with students arriving at school, and you'll also help us throughout the day with perimeter checks. You'll also get to spend time in classrooms working with small groups of students on skills that their teachers specify. This is usually done with games, books, etc. You'll get to help with recess supervisions, and of course, have lunch with your great student! At the end of the day, you'll help with dismissal...and you'll be the BEST kind of TIRED!
How can I become one of Spring Creek's Watch D.O.G.S.?
It's easy! Just follow these 4 simple steps:
1. Fill out the registration form (below in picture and .pdf form) and return to Spring Creek. You may print and either have your child return to their teacher OR you can email to stephanieandraszek@dcsok.org.
2. Fill out a background check form (below in picture and .pdf form) and return to Spring Creek with the $10 fee. Background checks are good for three years, so if you have had one in the past couple of years, call the office to make sure.
3. Choose a day to volunteer! Click on this CALENDAR LINK to select a day. We only have one Watch D.O.G. at Spring Creek per day, so we would ask that you only sign up for one day this year so that all D.O.G.S. have an opportunity to participate. If we have lots of openings left, we will open the calendar back up for repeat D.O.G.S.!
**Please note: Background checks take up to 2 weeks to complete, so please choose a date that is at least 2 weeks AFTER you turn in your background check form and fee.
**Once on the calendar site, you will have to enter your email address. You do not have to set up an account. You will be sent confirmation of your date and reminders. Easy Peasy!
4. Get the uniform! Go to the WatchD.O.G.S. website and scroll down just a bit and you will see the white t-shirt, which is the "Official WatchD.O.G.S. Elementary Uniform." (shirt is $15.95) While not required, we highly recommend that you purchase the shirt so that you can easily be identified as a WatchD.O.G. at our school. The kids love it, and we also recommend and appreciate this extra measure for security purposes.
