The Hall Way...
I am thankful for students that work hard, do their best, and never give up. I am thankful for staff members that spend endless hours caring for our students to help them learn and grow. I am thankful for the families of our students that partner with us to help their students during this formative part of their life. In other words, I am thankful for our Northwood family.
Wishing all of our Northwood families a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

Rescue Readers Reading Program
Helping Paws Woodstock, IL Animal Shelter has launched Rescue Readers Reading Program that lets kids age 6 and up become a hero as they read to shy dogs and cats to make them more comfortable around humans. The activity has a dual benefit: It increases the animal’s chances for adoption while improving the participant’s reading skills. All Rescue Readers must attend a training session with their parent or guardian. A parent or guardian also must be present as the child reads to the animals. To register and for details, call Helping Paws at 815-338-4400.

Social Services Snippet
The vacation from school and work means a break from routine, something kids and parents rely on. It can be challenging facing travel, relatives you don’t often see and changes in routines. We’ve compiled a list of seasonal tips to help all kids—and parents—enjoy the party.
Just a reminder!
Per the NMS handbook:
ILLNESS: Should a student begin to feel sick during the school day, he should ask the teacher for a pass to the nurse's office. The student must tell the nurse that he/she is not feeling well. Should the student be seriously ill, the nurse, or designee, will contact the family. Students are not allowed to use a cell phone or to call their parents from a classroom to tell them to pick them up from school. A student will be excused from school ONLY by the school nurse or by an administrator once already in school. Should a student be picked up without going through the nurse or administrator, the absence will be unexcused.
