RES October Newsletter
October 5th, 2023
Dear RES Families,
September came and went in what seemed like the blink of an eye. It was full of learning and the creation of memories! One of the best aspects of my position is being able to spend time in each classroom throughout the day. These times are sacred to me because it allows me to build rapport with students and staff while getting an understanding of the culture and dynamics of each classroom. From my observations to date, I have great enthusiasm for the learning that will continue to occur throughout the year. Let’s continue to make this a fantastic school year!
Volunteers:
If you are interested in volunteering in our school or during field trips, please fill out the required paperwork. These files are found in the RES foyer in the hanging wooden holder. There are three different levels detailing necessary requirements and permissions. Please call the school if you have any questions.
Peer Mentoring Partnership between RES/WES/TPVS:
Program Goals and Purpose- The purpose of this program is to provide a connection between the Prosper Valley School and Woodstock/Reading Elementary Schools. The program will aim to empower TPVS students by instilling a sense of leadership and responsibility, while helping WES/RES students learn from older peers as mentors, and build new relationships beyond their circle of friends and teachers. Additionally this will provide WES/RES students the opportunity to come to the TPVS campus and meet teachers and staff to ease the transition to 5th grade.
Program Description- WES/RES 2nd graders will be matched 1:1 with TPVS 5th graders. WES/RES 3rd graders will be matched 1:1 with TPVS 6th graders.
These peer mentoring sessions will take place throughout the school year. The next session will be Wednesday, October 25. The sessions take place in the afternoon. Students will ride over to TPVS on the bus with Principal Hill. They will be back in ample time for dismissal from RES. Please reach out if you have any questions.
