- The First Aid/CPR/AED class for staff and coaches will be on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the Forrest Center. Class size is limited. Registration information can be found at CPR Flyer and FACPRAED Course Fact Sheet.
- The school system is in great need of school bus drivers for regular bus routes, for field trips and as substitutes. Department of Transportation staff will be visiting schools and dropping off flyers that can be handed out to parents, guardians, or other persons who may be interested in becoming a certified school bus driver. All training is provided by SMCPS. If there are any questions, please contact the Department of Transportation.

- Bridges Elementary Math Curriculum
Getting Started Summer Workshops: Special Education Teachers encouraged to attend. This summer three sets of Bridges Getting Started Workshops will be offered for one cpd credit at Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School. We have ample spots for anyone who wants to attend. The workshops are run by teachers who currently teach the program. Based on popular demand (and survey results) we will offer the following dates from 8:00 - 4:30. - June 21 and 22 (Grade level specific workshops)
- July 30 and 31 (all sessions full)
- August 20 and 21
- LEGO Education MINDSTORMS Introduction: Learning about LEGO EV3
A trainer from LEGO Education will train SMCPS staff on EV3 robots. The purpose of the training is to show teachers how to utilize these bots in their classroom in ways that link to the curriculum. Participants should bring copies of any important district curriculum documents (grade level(s), course outlines, related curriculum maps, standards requirements, previous use of robotics, etc.) to help with lesson planning. Additional EV3 robots and kits were purchased and will be available for school use in 2018-2019. This opportunity is limited to 20 participants with priority given to individuals that will be using LEGO EV3s with students next year.

Bots PLAYDATES: Join St. Mary’s County teachers and media staff for a hands-on learning experience. Geared for staff wishing to begin a robotics club within their schools, participants will “Play” with BeeBots, ProBots, Dash & Dot robots, Lego EV-3 robots, Ozobots and more. Learn ways to integrate new robotics equipment into existing content standards. Stipend pay will be provided at the hourly rate.

- Please sign up the Bridges Summer Workshops by July 17. Registration will stay open, but teachers who register before June 17 will have the print materials for the beginning of the year checked out to them at their PD session. The rest will be sent to schools for check out when teachers return. The July sessions are already full.
