OES Library Media Update

Happy New Year!!!

January is not only the start of a new calendar year it is the start of our second semester. We have had our break, our rest, and rejuvenated ourselves physically and mentally these past two weeks. Now it is time to get back to business.

In this edition of OES Library Media Update I have put together a reminder of some of the services that our school library offers to you and our OES students. I have also included a Tech Tidbit on an app called "Padlet".

The OES Library has many services available to you and your students. For example:

  • Items needed for lessons can be requested in advance and placed on hold for you to use in your classroom.
  • You can search our library's catalog at any time through this link http://tlc.tpsd.org/oes.htm .
  • WORLD BOOK Online Encyclopedia, WORLD BOOK Timelines, as well as other WORLD BOOK resources are available from any school computer. These sources can also be accessed from any home computer. If accessed from home the username is "terrebonne" and the password is "students". Follow this link for access http://tlc.tpsd.org/ and click on WORLD BOOK.
  • GALE Databases are available to aid in researching various topics. This can also be accessed from school and from home. If accessed from home the password is "lak12". Follow this link for access https://goo.gl/HVxlfz.

  • If you would like to collaborate on a lesson or use available library services as part of a classroom lesson, please contact me in advance.

What is Padlet?

Padlet is an Internet application that allows people to express their thoughts on a common topic easily. It works like an online sheet of paper where people can put any content (e.g. images, videos, documents, text) anywhere on the page, together with anyone, from any device.

Think of it like a multimedia friendly, free-form, real-time wiki.
