The Buddy Benches are Ready!

Big image
We are ready to unveil the BUDDY BENCHES at Prairie Point Elementary! This project was completed by Student Leadership's 4th and 5th grade students during their club time last school year. The students painted the bench and identified the words and quotes to put on them. They are beautiful! Thank you, Lisa Paluch and Dotty Mockenhaupt for seeing this project through!

We will be unveiling the benches to the students on Friday, November 13th during the lunch hours. Please help us prepare the students for this by doing the following:

1. Show students the following 3 minute video. It's made by some kids in another district, and talks about the purpose behind the buddy bench as well as how to use it.

2. Please use the "Talking Points" sheet to reinforce the way to use the Buddy Bench. We want this to be successful as one of our SEL initiatives at Prairie Point.

Wednesday Morning Meetings

This week is a BUILDING Meeting. Wait, what are those? ;) Please be ready to meet from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. This week's meeting will be held in the LRC.

The agenda is attached below.

Wednesday Morning Meeting Schedule

The file below contains all of the Building, PLC, and SIP day meetings for the year. It will be updated regularly as the plans or schedule changes.

I will be out of the building the week of November 16th. My family and I are taking a vacation to Florida. I will miss being here and seeing each of you...I'm feeling very guilty! :) While I am gone, Jen will be available for assistance. I hope you all have a wonderful week and I'll see you on the 23rd. :)

TEAM is up and running for the year. RTI is now called MTSS - Multi-tiered Systems of Support. I am co-chairing a district-wide committee to look at building processes and procedures for student referral to TEAM. This was a nice compliment to Prairie Point, because we're building a district-wide process based on what is currently in place here. That's because of you. :-)

We are going to be piloting a new paperwork system called Success Plan, so if you bring a student to TEAM, we'll demonstrate that process for you. It's done through eschool.

In the meantime, if you need to bring a student up to TEAM, please complete the same paperwork we've had in the past. You can find that at our building TEAM website. Link is below. If you're unsure about how to bring a student up for support, or have other questions about the problem-solving process, please don't hesitate to visit a member of TEAM.
