Important - Middle School Students Participating in High School Sports

Parents, please note that if your middle school student participates in a high school sport and will be leaving early for a competition, you still need to contact our attendance either via ParentVUE or leave a message on the attendance line at 651-621-6601 so we can get a pass to your student to leave their class.

Middle School Consent Form for High School Activities

Seventh & eighth grade athletes that wish to participate on a high school team will also register online. Before you begin your online registration, approval must be obtained from the middle school principal or dean, the high school activities director and coach. RESOURCES

Let's Talk About It Blog!

Mounds View Public Schools seeks to support students in learning, practicing, and modeling essential personal life skills that contribute to academic, vocational, and personal success. To support this goal, district Chemical and Mental Health Specialists are partnering to bring parents and caregivers their newest creation: "Let's Talk About It" blog! They will be doing a monthly blog directed toward parents to help educate, support, and direct you to additional support related to the work they do. Their first blog has been posted on their site here.

REMINDERS

Winter Weather Reminders

It's been a while since we've had a weather-related school cancellation. Here are five things to remember this year.

From The Health Office...

Cold and flu season has arrived. We have started seeing an uptick in illnesses, including the flu, common cold, and other respiratory illnesses across the community. Here are a few reminders to help keep your students, your family, and others healthy as we head into the holiday season:

  • Cover your cough

  • Keep your student home if they are not feeling well - find the guidelines here

  • Drink plenty of fluids

  • Wash hands frequently

  • Test for COVID (we have home tests available at school - just ask the Health Office if you would like one sent home or if you would like to pick one up).

Bus Safety

We have noticed several bus behaviors that do not reflect our values here at Edgewood. We work with American Transportation to ensure that students and drivers have an enjoyable experience. Our message to students and families is riding the bus is a privilege, not a right. If negative interactions occur, a meeting with administrators, parents, and students will happen to discuss the next steps. We hope never to have such a meeting. Parents, please work in partnership with us by reiterating our expectations regarding transportation. Students are to remain seated while the bus is in motion—no food or beverages on the bus. We are respectful to other individuals and follow the bus driver's directions. We appreciate your support in keeping all students respectful and safe.

Lost Phones and Airpods

Parents, we are seeing an uptick of lost or misplaced personal devices such as cell phones and wireless earbuds. We understand these are expensive items and are of value. Please share with your child that it is best to keep such items in their lockers, backpacks, or kept at home as the goal is to not lose these items and ultimately remain engaged in their learning. If your student is missing any of these items, please have them check the front office to describe.
