MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
It seemed as though we would be able to escape February without needing to use a snow day - but Mother Nature once again got the last laugh. We hope all made it though the icy conditions without incident.
Amazingly, we are on to the final week of the second trimester. Final exams will take place March 3 and 4, and the altered schedule can be found below. Please remember that buses will run at their normal times - and students needing to wait for the afternoon bus may do so in the KHS cafeteria. To all of our students - it's time to finish off the second trimester in strong fashion.
Juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 8. This assessment is critical to the future plans of our students - and is a primary indicator on our school report card. In other words - the ACT is very important to all of us! Juniors are to report to the KHS cafeteria by 7:35 am on the morning of the 8th. We will provide breakfast to all students between 7:30 and 8:00, and students will then report to their classrooms for testing. The assessment should wrap up by 12:35 - and students will be dismissed at that time. Juniors have been preparing via our ACT prep sessions during Morning 30... now it's time for any final prep and a good night of sleep the night prior to the test.
Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 will not report to school on March 8. Instead, they will be completing assigned work for each of their classes asynchronously. Attendance will be confirmed for students by evidence of completed work. Therefore, it is critical that students complete and submit assigned work by 9:00 pm on the 8th. Additional details regarding the ACT and the asynchronous day of learning can be found at this link.
We are excited to offer our students opportunities such as our College and Career Day on 3/17 and our CTE Career Day on 3/22. These experiences are tailored to specific grade levels, and provide immeasurable value to our students as they continue to develop their post secondary plans.
Please follow our announcements, webpage, and district Facebook page for all of our happenings and celebrations. We have had numerous state qualifiers and county-wide honors to share in recent weeks. Great things are happening at KHS!
Be well,
Scott Stier - KHS Principal

Elementary Transition Update
We have created a web page to communicate with staff and families on the Elementary Transition process. There is a link on the top navigation bar on the home page or you can click here. We have an FAQ on the website that includes questions from the staff, family, and community listening sessions. As we receive more questions, we will add them to this document. We also created a Rumors document to address some of the rumors that have been circulating, and we will update this document as needed.
One of the questions that many people have asked is related to what the District plans to do with the property. The Board decided to put the property up for sale. We will be posting a sign in front of the building concerning the sale of the building, as well as placing advertisements in the local newspapers and on our website. We will be collecting closed offers until April 29, 2022, which the Board will review at the May 12 Board meeting. At that time, they will have the opportunity to make a decision if they would like to accept any of the offers received.
We have opened up our window for Parent Initiated Requests for an Intra-District Transfer a little early this year. If you are interested in putting in a request, please contact your building principal for more information.
